Quote: Yes, it should be. It was a really weird day. The cow and I show up about 5 minutes early for preboarding. They were boarding zone 5? at the time.

Once we got on the aircraft, the captain shows up 10 minutes or so prior to pushback. Yes, read that again - pushback! It was a weird day for sure.
We were there at T-33 (2 minutes after scheduled boarding time) and they were doing Zone 3.

Wow, we showed up after the indicated boarding time? Oops. I shouldn't have grabbed that glass. Is zone 3 front of Y or back? I dunno. My guess is that they were boarding the back of the aircraft. If that's 3, great. If not, oops.

Thankls to drvannostran for the insights.

Quote: All part of the Westjet model of being client friendly. It is cost effective to overlook a kilo. Once the delays, manpower cost etc are added in, charging for a small overweight isn't worth it.
Agreed.

Quote: WS pax tend to be less stuck up and a lot more civil than the pax I have experienced on AC. Maybe its the demographics. Just my opinion.
I haven't flown WS much in a few years, but I'd suspect it's to do with the different types of people flying. WS crowd much more of a leisure crowd, happy to be going on holiday. AC has some leisure, but a lot of business people who are grumpy about being in the back of the plane, could be suffering from DYKWIA-ism, etc.

I flew WS during a time when I couldn't afford to fly anything else.

But now things have flipped upside down for me and I can afford to not fly WS.

So yes, I think AC customers are different than WS customers. That's my POV.

Or perhaps suffering from bag-tag envy.....

Seriously, we all know that flying for a vacation is potentially less stressful than for work. Even on AC and other airlines, pax who know they are going to get away from work etc have a different mood than road warriors who have to fly near and far for work (which they may or may not like in the first place)

I flew WS from BDA to YYZ in Feb and took 27 hours to get home due to mechanicals and ineptitude....I was the only pax that was pissed...the rest were thrilled with another day on vacation. So yes they are very very different...a happy go lucky..kinda child like quality to them all I think.

Nobody ever said the WS pax weren't wonderfully charming.

We just want to know why they were wearing pyjamas at the gate in Moncton at 6:30am that one time. There was no shopping cart full of belongings, so they weren't obviously living there. And they weren't VS Pink or Juicy pyjamas either, thank god because they was a large hairy dude.

Maybe AC fliers just have an entitlement issue
