FlyerTalk Forums Expert How-Tos and Guides
Last edit by: tcook052
This new annual thread has been carved out of the previous thread in an effort to reduce the number of megathreads on the AC forum. For those interested the original 2004 - 2014 thread on the topic may be found here.

That original thread started by accident but quickly became a popular place to come and discuss off topic things such as hockey, new movies, or almost anything that wouldn't fit into existing AC forum threads. More Air Canada or Aeroplan topics such as flight feedback, in-flight services issues or mileage earning/redemption are all topics that should go into existing AC forum threads so others can benefit from this information. Topics about other airline/hotel loyalty programs should be posted elsewhere on FT.

While the conversation is more relaxed as it would be in a lounge that doesn't mean however that the FT rules don't apply her as they definitely do so please refrain from controversial topics such as politics or religion, avoid profanities and treat other lounge patrons with the same respect you expect.

Will be missing my January 2015 AQM target

Will end January 2015 at 51,995 AQM. Was targeting much more.
(Imagine if I get 600K+ AQM this year?!)

I think I read somewhere here that MG will do something like 90K AQM in a month? (sorry, bad memory)

Feet per minute, right?

Actually a higher climb rate is easier to achieve at higher altitudes. Give that some thought.

Yes. Apologies. Although if the 45 sec time frame includes a climb of 6000 feet per minute, then a drop of 7000+ feet, I'm wondering what the maximum fps drop rate was.

I figured at altitude the drop in engine performance would affect climb rate. Are you saying the corresponding drop in drag is more significant than the loss of thrust?

Nope

Why does a roller coaster climb?

What the heck? I was going through YOW security, and I have a flap thing in my wallet for my NEXUS card. They guy said I HAD to give him the card so he could feel it to verify the authenticity. I was like......, you're the only guy to ever ask this, but sure enough he groped my card once I gave it to him. Am I the only one?

Ah yes, the domestic Nexus line. Idiots looking for things in the wrong places.
At least he was groping your card.
YYZ Nexus Domestic CATSA people sniff things.
YVR Nexus Domestic CATSA guy makes all of us take shoes off and liquids out.
When 5 of us pointed out the rules, he made up his own.

Nexus lines to the U.S. slightly less idiotic.
Shoes on .
Liquids in.
Occasional sniffing.
No groping.

Remind me to tell you all my YWG CATSA story series. I'll never divulge here, but it's great fireside storytelling for a do.

Looks like we'll need some popcorn and lounge chairs.

Lol. One more hint because it's funny.

Part 1 involved a Polaroid camera, 10 packs of film, a 3' steel chain, and a large crescent wrench. 100% true.
