I would imagine so. I ride a motorbike and regularly filter through standing traffic in downtown Toronto. One time a lady in a car beside me did exactly that: looked at me like I just punched a kitten and repeated loudly "Shame on you" several times. Oh, bite me...

Shaming only works if the thing the person is doing is inherently shameful in their culture.

If someone on the street tried to shame me for something that I felt was perfectly acceptable, I'd probably just roll my eyes and figure that person had something wrong with them.

Just remind them, "there is a queue, you know. It's there."

99% of the people will lower their pants.

BTW here is another story. We were at YWG. Agent had just arrived at the gate or maybe was getting ready to call for priority boarding. My wife and I sere waiting. Leaving some distance between us and the counter, so as not to look like we were putting pressure on the agent. Some important guy arrives and was going to go straight to the agent. Mean as I am, I see him coming. I just moved up a bit and extended my arm to the counter. You should have seen the sm,ile on the agent's face.

Isn't lane splitting illegal in Ontario?

The first time I saw anything like that in California I was extremely confused.

A guy in a suit (or as some would say, a "bidnizzman") in the regular boarding lane for an AA flight got pretty aggressive with me coming up through the priority line (they were well into regular boarding), trying to push my BP away from the agent to hand his over. She took mine instead.

I find some AC agents good at this. You stand in the right line, they call you over, or ask if you're 1/2.

Others suck, and ignore you until you push through.

I don't like pushing through, because it's hard to tell where one group ends and the next begins. One time, an agent called me over between a couple. He'd had his BP scanned, she had not.

Lane splitting in Ontario is just as illegal as speeding. Doesn't stop anyone from doing it. Just don't get caught.

California though... that's lane splitting paradise.

Okay, but getting annoyed at someone saying "shame on you" for breaking the law is a little ridiculous, no?

So you'd be fine if someone pulled up to you on 401 while you're going 120 and said "shame on you"? You wouldn't be annoyed in the slightest?

I wouldn't post about it on FT.

That's probably not going to kill him though.

But guess what, some of us care about our own life.

None of this would kill anyone. Filtering through traffic that is at stand still at a red light is not going to kill anyone either.

Yes, I realize it's FT and this has nothing to do with flying, but I thought it was accepted here to go off topic from time to time. Oh well.

Never mind me, I have done more miles on my bike than flying, I'll be a noob here for a long time

Rules are great as long as they benefit you. As soon as they go against you they become silly, nonsensical, arbitrary, stupid, why are you singling ME out, classist, socialist, I always do this, etc, etc, etc.

Wonder how many posters here use HOV lanes when they are a single person in the vehicle.

Not at all the same thing. HOV lanes have a collective benefit for the general good of everyone, which is easily understood by most people, whether or not they themselves are able to take advantage of it. Whereas priority boarding has no public benefit; it only benefits the airlines and elite flyers.

I'm not suggesting that they should do away with it. I'm just saying that the comparison isn't really valid.

The thing is, while it is technically illegal to filter or split lanes in traffic in most jurisdictions in North America, it is not illegal to cut in line at the airport counter. Yet how many people have been whining about it?

Just try not to be an a**hole. Legal or not, you know when you're being a dick. Some people are straight up delusional and don't understand the impact of their actions, but many knowingly do things that suck for others.

Speaking of priority boarding, I find it less of a perk when I can spend the time in a fancy lounge instead. Which sometimes turns me into an unexpected dick - like when I leisurely came out of the lounge 15 min before departure and realized they are calling my name for final boarding call. My sincere apologies to the worried gate agents.

Nor is it illegal to buy a economy class seat and go sit in business/first class (not that I know of anyway), or to use an airport lounge you don't have access to.

All I'm saying is, it's great to say "I'm S/E 5MM and so I board in zone 0 with the pilot and crew" but then ignore rules such as size limits for carry on because that rule doesn't benefit you. Perhaps the HOV analogy was less exact than I thought it was.

Theft of service, trespassing, etc?
