Cabin Layout

Interior Specs can be found here https://www.aircanada.com/ca/en/aco/home/fly/onboard/fleet.html

- Window seats may feel narrower to come as the armrests are placed "into" the "curvature" of the cabin.
- Seats with no windows feel even more narrower as there is no space created by the curvature of window.
- All bulkhead seats have very limited legroom.
- Seats 15A, 16A, 16F, 17A and 17F have limited windows.
- Exit rows 19 and 20 have more legroom than regular preferred seats.

Routes

The 737 MAX is designated to replace the A320-series. Based on announcements and schedule updates, the following specific routes will be operated by the 737 MAX in future:

YYZ-LAX (periodic flights)
YYZ-SNN (new route)
YUL-DUB (new route)
YYZ/YUL-KEF (replacing Rouge A319)
YYT-LHR (replacing Mainline A319)
YHZ-LHR (replacing Mainline B767)
Hawaii Routes YVR/YYC (replacing Rouge B767)
Many domestic trunk routes (YYZ, YVR, YUL, YYC) now operated by 7M8, replacing A320 family

I recall seeing many of those impressive test flight takeoffs from Moses while based there this summer. Such a shame most passengers never get to experience how their rides can actually perform.

Air Canada stated (01-Dec-2016) it has positioned itself to be flexible with fully unencumbered, older aircraft in the event of an economic downturn, with a "sizeable" amount of staggered leased aircraft expiries. The carrier noted the staggered Airbus narrowbody lease expiries give it the opportunity to manage capacity as it transitions to Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.

I'm so tired of the aging 320 family fleet, I can't wait for the 737s. I don't remember the last time I got on a 319/320/321 and everything just worked properly. The power outlets are often a problem. Sometimes it's the IFE. Maybe the reading light doesn't work. Worn-out, uncomfortable seats even in J. And so on.

Don't worry. You'll soon get brand new, uncomfortable seats.

I'm tired of the A319/A320 too. I only wish AC replaced them with new A319/A320's. I think the 737 is a down grade. AC is basically replacing a 1980 airframe with a 1950 airframe. I'm looking forward to the C-Series.

You'll most likely be making the same comments about the 737's after five years or so. It's not the airframe, it's the dense oafish passengers that are the problem. I sat next to one oaf recently who spent about five minutes trying to ram his USB adapter into the outlet the wrong way, ultimately breaking the in-seat adapter and annoying the holy Jesus crap out of the guy in the seat in from of him too.

Agreed! As a pilot I would prefer the 737 because they are fun to fly, as a passenger I prefer the A320 series because there is no fun to be had flying them. Ditto on the C Series, although I have already had a few flights in that aircraft. ^

I know it doesn't happen often, but I absolutely 100% beyond-the-shadow-of-a-doubt agree with you ^

exactly - I've flown in plenty of very nice A320/319's on LH (who BTW are completely B737 and 777- free .. surprising for a major airline). AC could have gotten new 320's and -neo's.

Let's not overdo it. An eighties for a sixties airframe, not fifties. I believe the 707 first flew around 1957. 727 followed a few years later. 737 was announced in 1965, LH launch customer, first flew 196.

I first flew on a 737, LH, in 1972.

But yes, we are looking forward to the CSeries.

LH does have the 737. I was on one of them last summer or did they retire them this year? Also, LH has a large 777 order in place.

Last flight was Oct 29. Yup, LH flew them for 50 years.

Considering it's narrower in a 737, I would be careful what you wish for. Less shoulder room is most likely going to be the case going forward, let alone slimline seats etc.
