If I look at my own profile, I got an aeroplan account around 1993. Did not fly all that much until 1997 or so when I first made 35k elite. Superelite since probably 2002.
Similar for me. '95 start, made Elite in '02, hit 1 MM this year. So 18 years for me.

Joined AE in March 1995 and had basic status in 1995, 1996 and 1997.

E status in 1998 and 1999

Dropped to P for 2000.

Back to E in 2001, 2002 and 2003.

SE beginning in 2004 until now.

It took 16 years to hit 1MM on 31MAR 2011 on my 100th TATL trip.

I just checked the online version of the magazine and it clearly states that 4% of Altitude members are million milers. It also says the average million miler flies 174 hours a year. I wish that is all I flew - I am way above that. And I am scarily close to the average - it took me exactly 22 years!

I will cross 1MM in 2 weeks and it took me 13 years to get there. Sadly they do not take into account the mileage accumulated with Canadian Airlines before 2001.

The article says < The perks include priority rebooking and upgrades>.

Any info on the upgrade aspect of the 1MM program? First time I hear about it.

1MM cannot be below E50K, so they get at least those benefits.

I would guess (based on nothing at all) that a majority of 1MM continue to earn 50K or higher anyway.

A majority probably continues to earn SE status, or else they more or less stop flying, I suppose. At least that's my plan.

At 500 miles/hr that almost 90,000 miles/year.

I wrote to AC about the Canadian Airlines miles. They refused. Otherwise I would be heading to the 3 MM mark.

A SEMM friend was recently on a TATL flight and was trying to u/g. He said there were 11 other SEMMers on his flight. He missed the u/g.

Working towards 2MM status much quicker than MM status took to attain

I know for fact that a SE MM will trump any SE non-MM for an upgrade regardless of fare class. This is actually a positive enhancement introduced this year, although it has not be stated publicly that I'm aware of.

I've been flying with AC since 1986 and have held top-status each year it has been offered. I expect to cross the 2MM threshold next year

Interesting. If thatīs true MM status may have some value after all.

I would be curious to know whether any MM trumps a SE or only a SEMM would trump a SE.

The only time i am recognised as a MM or SE is when i am in J. Someone always comes over to thank me for my business.

if you're sitting in economy, no one gives a crap.

I don't believe so. An E50K MM would trump a E50K non-MM but lose out to an E75K or SE100K.
