Sorry, Empress. I (we?) bailed out of Shaw when they started screwing us over for cable and internet access. We went to satellite and ADSL (Telus).
Knocked as much as $40 a month off our monthly bills....
But if it's any comfort, I've heard that Shaw has had oodles of problems with their email in the last couple of months since they were forced out of the Excite (@Home) system/program/whatever you want to call it.

Still not working... called them and they gave me some stupid reasons. All they did was told me to fire up Outlook and check that I had the right servers.
I just sent a couple of test emails from my Yahoo account to shaw and it's not showing up. Outlook & webmail is acting normally as if there are no new emails. (???)

Empress, I had an e-mail sent to a Shaw account that was returned to me. It says that it will continue to try to send it for two days. Do you know if it provides confirmation that the e-mail was actually sent?

makin' miles, usually in cases like that you don't get confirmation when the message is sent. It isn't specific to shaw, and it's usually five days. Typically it says something like "will continue trying for five days". After the five days you'll get another message if it wasn't deliverable.

We gave up on Shaw in 1997 when Telus began the multimedia trial. Digital cable at half Shaw for poor analogue cable. Then came high speed Internet. 3-4 times faster than Shaw Wave, with proxy/Nat included.
They abandoned the trial, so we moved to ADSL and satellite. Like opencdnskies, our bill was much lower for better quality services. Never had a significant problem, and speed is consistently better than cable ISP's.
