For me, 75,000-95,000 is alot-- Most of it is domestic, so thats ALOT of YEG-YYC and YEG-YUL flights...

I think it depends how one gets the miles....I know some people have loads from 500 mile minimum YYJ-YVR commuting, while others get well over 20,000 for a single round-trip YYZ-PEK in J....I'd say one of those would have worked harder for his status (too many hours on the Dash 8)....

I notice AC's eupgrade system maxes out at 360,000 or 400,000 miles (the threshold system)....

I find most of my deals either in the AC forum, or the MR forum. Sometimes you need to do a positioning flight. Recently there was the $87 fare from ORD-YVR. (Not sure if it still works.) I've booked LAX-YYZ-IST for $106 each way, plus taxes ($580 all in). Also booked CDG-YYZ-CDG for $72 each way, plus taxes ($494 all in), so I used this fare to come home in the middle of a mini RTW reward ticket.

I just keep my eyes open for good deals, and that's how I decide where to go. And for those who want to call me a bottom feeder, go ahead. I book legitimate fares that AC is offering, so not sure what your problem is with that! AC got plenty of overpriced fares from me when I was travelling for business. Now that it comes out of my pocket, I have the flexibility to choose timing and routes that cost me the least.

Also choose your routes to maximize miles. A straight line is never your friend and usually price is the same. For example YYZ-YYC-IAH in lieu of YYZ-IAH.

i couldnt agree with you more...I've been bent over the table so many times on reasonably last minute flights I couldnt avoid, so when it comes to travel for my free time...i look for cheap then gear myself up for the destination. example, YVR-honkong...7k round trip in T+...that shouldn't even be possible, but I had no choice. Grrrr.

Either way looks like there aren't too many high milers on this board...would like to see a few of them...

I've been SE for a few years now. 4 or 5 I guess. I hit +150,000 only once. Several trips to Australia and Asia that year.
Aside from 4 or 5 TATL per year, it's mostly NA for me now.

And by the time I did exceed 150K, the only "gift" available was $500.00 fruit/passion gift card. Gave it to my mum.

I'm one of those who generally hit SE with flight segments before hitting 100k.
I'll be over 60 segments by the end of June, so likely be hitting SE again around Sept/Oct on Segments....ouch!

Whenever I go to YQR - I try to make a mileage run out of the return going either YQR-YYZ-LAX, or YQR-YYZ-PHX - which you can do for less than $170 if you're lucky.

I've been doing about 105K/year, but since all my biz travel is domestic, I have to take two holidays to Australia per year (which allows me to burn all my Marriott points) and do the weird YQR routings to get above 50K per year. This year is particularly light, so I'm thinking of doing the infamous LHR-YYZ-YVR-SYD thing both ways + roundtrip from YYC to LHR - anyone want to join me? I have over 100 e-upgrade credits so I'm in pretty good shape if I decide to attempt this feat.
