For those looking to max out on miles, I'm getting the following routing to successfully price on certain dates, which yields 4332 base miles one-way, inclusive of 500-mile minimums for UA elites: YYC-YVR-YYZ-YOW-YUL-ORD

For decent miles I've also tried (on ITA and ac.com) YVR-YUL-ORD 3,043 miles

Unfortunately, I've only been able to find the routing on ITA Software and have not been able to replicate it on a booking engine; I've tried aircanada.com, priceline, travelocity.ca, expedia.ca, and perhaps another 1 or 2 that I've forgotten.

Here's the itinerary from ITA. Note that the all-in price of $167 is indeed the $87 K fare, but with high ex-Canada taxes. A similar routing on ORD-YYC prices around $110-115 all-in.
