Question: Bulkheads on 777 - Acceptable Crossover Point?

Who cares if it is a single class? People shouldn't be taking shortcuts through others' leg room. It is no more acceptable to cut though the space in front of row 18 than it is to crawl over the people sitting in rows 19, 20, 21, etc.
I've only been in Y on a 777 once. It was a 77L (AC034 from YVR-YYZ). I was seated in 19A on the flight, and people in the middle section of row 18 seats didn't really appear to have any more leg room than at similar bulkheads on an A320. If it were a case where people in row 18 could fully stretch out their legs and not even touch the bulkhead (i.e. still several feet of space), a case could be made for use as a throughfare; IIRC this is NOT the case. I have no idea how much leg room there is on rows 77L row 30 or 77W rows 18, 30, or 50.
If you are having a medical emergency and need to get to the washroom, ask the person if you can infringe on their personal space (if it is obviously an emergency they might let you).
I can't think of any reason why someone would need to cross at row 18 on either aircraft as the lavs are located further back. The 77L has one crossing point in Y at the rear of the aircraft; the 77W has 2 crossing points in Y at the galley and the rear of the aircraft. These aircraft also have AVOD. If you are watching a movie, you can pause it at any time to go to the lav, and movies/TV shows don't all finish at the same time. It isn't like in the days of mainscreen entertainment when you would have a huge rush to use the lavs when the movie ended.

main problem it seems is that ppl just assume that it's their right to cross the bulkhead seats. When I'm up in the bulkhead, my only deal is, if you want to cross in front of me, all you have to do is ask. You ask nicely, and I won't have a problem with it. Whether or not my row-mates have a problem with it, that's on them...

I would hazard that the main reason for bulkhead crossovers is service carts blocking the aisles prior to other crossover points. Puking threats aside, I don't have a problem with people crossing as long as they utter the magical words "excuse me" (and put in a reasonable effort not to hit me).

By the same token, you have no idea if I am seated in the bulkhead for medical reasons. Quite a few years ago I suffered a pretty severe injury to my hamstring, but had to fly shortly afterwards. I was on crutches, had a support bandage under my skirt, but once the crew had stashed my crutches for me, there was no visible reason you could have seen that I shouldn't have been ok with you scrambling over me. In reality, anyone that inconsiderate could have caused me incredible pain. Had someone asked (before deciding it was their right of way) I could have pointed it out, and in all probability said 'sure, as long as your step over my leg very carefully' but someone who determined that it was 'single class' and therefore all fair, could have really hurt me a lot. Fortunately, no one was that inconsiderate on this flight.

Okay, if that's how you want it, when the pax in the row ahead wants to recline in my space, I respectfully ask that he does not, since my knees are alreay in the seat back. I hope I sit behind you, cause you are probably the type that also puts his feet on the bulkhead wile reclining, adding extra pressure to my knees.

hmm..... so its okay for you to warn others ahead of you intruding your space when they recline their seats....but its also okay that you cross across someone's leg without the respect of asking...... quite selfish i have to say.... and its pax with that attitude that causes air rage/disturbance
i've been through an air disturbance exactly like that before and all i can say a lack of respect will not get anyone far.......

That being said, you would be very fortunate to have me sit in front of you on an airplane. If you did ask me to put my seat back up, I would gladly oblige (and for the record I have done this whenever I've been asked, and I have been asked). I always try to be considerate of those around me; I don't like to do things around other pax that I wouldn't want to have other pax do around me. In addition to putting my seat up when asked, I try to be considerate by doing other things such as:
- I touch the AVOD lightly so that I don't move/shake the seat in front of me.
- When not on an aisle, I try to minimize any trips to the lavs, etc. so that those on the aisle don't have to get up excessively. When I do have to get out, I ASK NICELY instead of just climbing over them.
- I don't put my feet up on the seat in front of me.
- I listen to music, etc. at a quiet volume so that those around me don't have to listen to my songs, etc.
- I don't ask other people to put their seats upright (I've never asked someone this. Not to say that I wouldn't, but the seats would have to have far less pitch than what AC has on its planes, or the seat would have to be reclined during a meal time and interfering with my ability to eat).
- I don't hog the space in overhead bins.
- When I put carry on baggage under my seat, I make sure that it doesn't interfere with the legroom of the passenger next to me.
- I try to stand out of the aisles during boarding so that other passengers can get by me.
- Etc.

I won't apologize either when I leave that middle bulkhead seat, follow you to your window seat and squeeze my way over to the window so that I can catch a glimpse of the view
Ha ha--thanks for that one-funniest comment I have read in weeks!
(My next flight to NRT though is in Row 18 though I have picked 18K, so at least no crossovers there).

How much a person has paid for their space has no bearing on your imagined right to occupy it.
It sounds to me that if you try the 'cross in my row' stunt with the majority of the posters here, you will have legitimate medical issues as a result.
Play fairly in the back of the bus? So can we cross over at any row then, not just at the bulkheads?
