Thanks for the replies everybody. The better half was slightly embarrassed I made a scene about it, but I knew I had support from the people who really matter.

Completely agree. The man was a PITA for trespassing the OP at 30D.

Just returning from extensive flying in row 18, I have the following observations:

1) On each flight, 4-6 passengers attempt the crossover.

2) Of these, at most 1 is an Y passenger (who usually gets the wrong side during boarding). They always apologize profusely.

3) The rest are J pax, both during boarding and in flight. They do not even make eye-contact, let alone say "excuse me".

Given this pattern of behavior, I suspect they are all SEs.

My toddler has now been primed to puke on demand, so I hope they are bringing extra clothes on board!

Eh, during boarding all rules are relaxed. Anything that gets them out of the aisles pondering where their seat is and how best to arrange their bags is a good thing.

Why on earth would a J passenger even go back there?

Some J pax seem to find row 18 a more convenient crossover point than going through the bar. The reason eludes me.

You don't get my support on this one. If the galley is blocked, and the other side is open, I will cross, no need to ask or appologise.

Not acceptable at all! I have actually heard FA announce that passengers are NOT to cross at rows x,y,z as these are seats, not thoroughfares. Maybe they should do those announcements more.

Then as others have suggested I will trip you and use you as a foot rest.

You are rude and unaware of the fact someone (prolly) has paid extra money to sit in that row and use that space. It is not yours.

Just because the bank is closed, does not give you the right to shoot out a window and get your money.

Perhaps more reasonably, if the route to your back yard from the front is obstructed, are you going to simply use the space beside your neighbours house then scale their fence/hedge without even so much as knocking at their door and explaining yourself?

I won't apologize either when I leave that middle bulkhead seat, follow you to your window seat and squeeze my way over to the window so that I can catch a glimpse of the view.

It is not acceptable, but bear in mind there may be travellers in Y that have never before been on a wide-body aircraft, (or even any kind of plane) they may quite easily think that it is a public thoroughfare from one aisle to the next.

They may even think that you are being rude blocking that route! These people also would have no idea that you may have paid extra for that bit of legroom. Thats why I like it when it is announced as a non route.

Yes, but good chance you got it for no extra money. When I need to go, you have no clue if it is for medical rasons or not. At the back of the bus, it is a single class, and everybody needs to play fairly.

Haha. For the record, I think it is unacceptable. However I just asked my wife and she could not even imagine why it would be a problem.
