I haven't tried that at BKK, but as long as the the BP shows your status, you should be fine(maybe not in ZRH, but Thai people seem nice enough) So you still have a chance to get into the lounge/ board when you want, even if you don't receive your card in time.
But let's hope you get it
the *G lounge in Singapore terminal 3 sometimes ask you to show, but if you don't have, the person might give you a pass on that.

They used to, but Swiss seems to have received enough complaints about it... XX*G on a boarding pass is sufficient by star alliance rules.

It's a bit sad I won't be able to try that on my next two visits to SIN... But just a bit.
But I'd love to hear their reason why I have to show the card, when my status is printed on my BP...

I am Gold since middle of March. Travelled a lot after that date with A3, LX and LH without the card.

A3: No isse at check in, status represented on Boardingpass
LX: Status not on BP; but print out of Account plus Blue card good enough for Lounge and Check-In
LH: Status not on BP (it showed A3, when I was silver it showed A3 S, strange to be 'downgraded'). But after showing print out, check-in agents manually changed status and printed on BP. Lounge, fast track etc no issue.

Yesterday I was in Avianca-Taca flight (Lim-gru) and did the checkin in airport. My status in this moment was *S. After the migration, I saw in Aegean Miles&Bonus webpage that my status was updated to *G. I went to the gate and ask to Avianca-taca staff if my status was changed in Staralliance. My surprise was when the staff told me: "Yes sir, your status was updated here. I will print the new boarding pass and you can wait the flight in our VIP Lounge".
I thinked the status in Staralliance changes in 2, 3 days but was immediatly.

Now, I will wait the Gold Card.

I'm still waiting for my A3 Gold Card pack - hope it hasn't gone astray! I'm assuming the delay is because of Easter etc

Generally I've found that miles post to the account very quickly.
