Talking Sofitel Darling Harbour

VIP treatment: NOTHING... Even after I reminded them twice, they failed to send the amenity. Am thoroughly disappointed by this property as service at the restaurant was horrible too. Totally unacceptable for a Sofitel and considering they are the first 5 star property to open in Sydney in years, I would think they were ready to impress. (Full Review to come soon when I am free)
Reaction: My after stay feedback survey email literally was me bashing them after they assured me that a manager would contact me for the problems I encountered during my stay but no one did any follow up.

I think this property thinks the welcome amenity is the drink voucher..

I got lucky I guess... I was selected as the "guest of the day" and got some choc cake and bubbles ..

This was after the disaster experience at Sofitel Wentworth so 180 turnaround to my happiness

Booked room: Luxury darling harbour view
Upgraded room: Club Junior Suite lvl30 Darling harbour view

Two drink vouchers like I would need them :/

Club is nice and you can get toasted by the sun if that's your thing

There is also a nice champagne bar.. bubbles are my cryptonite

I booked a superior room and was upgraded to a junior suite but I had to move to another room due to bad condition of the junior suite and once again due to same problem of the second room I was given. So I ended up the prestige suite. I received these two extra amenities as a service recovery.

Ibis Styles Bali Petitenget

Second stay here. One class upgrade to Family Room and late check out at 5pm. Welcome amenities included letter, welcome drink (two, including alcohol) plus this gift consisting of a small fruit stack, piece of indeterminate black foodstuff plus a small bowl of corn flakes covered by black stuff.

Really like this hotel- new, clean, with modern design. Good location near many excellent restaurants and bars/beach clubs. Super friendly staff. Good value accommodation with reasonably priced F&B. The (free) breakfast was a weak point, but that is expected in this part of the world at this type of hotel. Otherwise, very much recommend.

Mercure Sydney

Upgrade to premium floor.
I was asked at check-in to choose a welcome gift: brownies and orange juice (picture below), nuts and beer, sparkling wine and strawberries.
Little box of chocolates and Evian water (in addition to no-brand water provided).
