Use quidco.com for up to 10% cashback. I have been using this for several years.

Good news!

Dear Mr.....

Bonjour! Greetings from Sofitel Macau At Ponte 16!

Welcome back to our hotel. Sorry for the inconvenience caused to you. The hotel did set some of the dates as black out date during the promotion period. However, we valued our loyal customers like you. We are more than happy to extend the discount under Black Friday promotion for you over the weekends (except Chinese New Year 05-10 Feb 2019).

May I have the dates you prefer and we will offer you the best promotional rate?

Looking forward to hear from you soon.

Best regards,

Charlene

The stay window is tiny in China and huge in Japan and Korea. This one is useless to me as my stays in China are in April.

Yeah the short window for China is disappointing. Fortunately for me, it works for my schedule, but that's real unfortunate for yourself and others.

Unhappy When a sale is not a sale (Part n) - Pullman Tokyo Tamachi

So here we go again ...
I've been waiting since the 2nd half of the year to book for stays in late Jan. 2019
I've been monitoring the situation before/since the Pullman Tokyo opened, from the ridiculous ¥ 30,000 pre opening rates to last month's more reasonable rates of ¥ 20,000 (during the Black Friday sale, though I wasn't aware of that particular promo at that time & I remembered that the rate I saw was an "Advanced Purchase" rate)

So for this Private Sale - I'm seeing the following rates for the period that I will be in Tokyo -

SUPERIOR ROOM, 2 Single Beds

2019-01-2X ¥ 18,500
2019-01-2X ¥ 19,500
2019-01-2X ¥ 23,250
2019-01-3X ¥ 23,250

Not much of a sale, huh?

And I'm just wondering if anyone managed to book an awesome rate during the Black Friday sale (particularly at the Pullman Tokyo e.g. ¥12,000 - ¥15,000) or was that just another of Accor's non existent "sales"?

I think it can be called a sale. Was 20,000 yen/night the fully flexiable rate before the sale period and during the sale period? Sales are discounted on the fully flexiable rate and not on the cheapest (Advance saver rate for example).

Quite often advance saver rates can be between 10 up to 25 percent off the fully flexiable rate with suites up to 30 percent during a non sale period.

They may have changed their fully flexiable rate I suppose. If that is the case then yes I agree it is a bit of a cheat but may or may not be related to the sale. Some hotels also have variable flexiable rates depending on the dates to be booked.

Anyway I feel your pain.

Sounds exactly like Fairmont, Raffles and Swisshotel situation we had for 1 yr. Also Banyan tree was also about 1 yr from being marketed until getting benefits. So i think end of this year will be when we see the points and benefits come in.

Exclamation Did anyone get any really good rates during the last pvt sale?

I used to look forward to the Accor Pvt sale, but it's really not been as good as the last couple of years
The last one wasn't great at all, & it still doesn't include hotels in the USA like Sofitel NYC or PHL
I find the weekly sales to be of good value sometimes, especially for the Sofitel in BKK & MNL
I've moved a lot of stays to Hilton & surprisingly - IHG
I'm a big fan of the Holiday Inn Express in Asia, Crowne Plaza, EVEN Hotels & Hotel Indigo in the USA as they offer really good value
I've dropped to Gold since Jan. so that kinda affects my choices too = no lounge access + no free b/fast
Hilton still offers free b/fast for Gold members worldwide.

Is it just me? What do u guys think?
Did anyone get any really good rates during the last pvt sale?
If so, where & how much did you pay?

Not sure if private sale I snapped is a good deal but these are what I got for the upcoming stays.

Pullman Kuala Lumpur City Centre (Superior Room) - got it for $70/night ($91 if booked today).

Pullman Bali Legian Beach (Exclusive two bedrooms suite) - got it for $187/night (cannot find two bedrooms suite any more ).

Pullman Danang Beach Resort (Cottage) - $210/night ($288 if booked today).

Each deal isn't that great, but in total I guess I could save quite a substantial amount

Now waiting for a sale for India, Russia, Italy, and Thailand (MGallery Chiangmai and Phuket Naihan in particular).

Come to think of it, it could be fun to see how much we could save the whole year book only with private sale
