Just make sure they haven't closed 3/4 of the resort for a private wedding!! I was at the Sofitel a few weeks back, and it is beautiful, except they had most of the resort closed for normal guests because of a wedding that was there over a few days. I was pretty disappointed and it left all of the non-wedding guests feeling like we weren't welcome in the resort.
I think they should inform the guest earlier and make some arrangement to compensate the other guests

They did have notices around the hotel and also letters in the room advising what was and wasn't available, but too late once you are there to find out.
I'd say the families of the bride and groom would have paid a fortune to be there and the hotel bent over backwards for them. Great expereince if you were one of the guests, but not if you weren't.

It was a massive wedding (traditional Indian wedding) and the resort was fully booked with probably a few hundred guests for the wedding. One of the restaurants, a pool, the beach area and the club lounge was taken over, although they were supposed to provide club benefits at the pool bar - when I asked I was told they knew nothing about it.

Upon arrival at the check in counter, the FO recognize that I am Gold member, hence he referred me to GRO desk. So I got to seat instead of standing while the GRO checked me in. I got welcome drink which was quite nice. The checked in process is rather slow and not very personal. I felt I just another guest. Having just move from another hotel which become my favourites now in Bali, due to the warmest of the staffs there, I really feel, I am just another guest in Sofitel while on the other property I am Mr. lingua101.
I am both Gold member in Accor and the other brand, which is the second highest tier also.
The GRO did not even explain to me about the hotel facilities, I think. Even if she did, I was not impress hence I forget about it, but I think it is the first.
When I asked about late check out, which is the benefit of the Gold member, she said she will check and get back to me in 2 hours and she never did.
I do not think the resort is extremely busy that day. Well anyway, I got my 2pm check out after arguing on the phone next day, as the FO said they can only extend it to 1pm!!!! I do not understand why Accor properties like to do this. What is so different between 1pm and 2pm?
Anyway, will I go back? Not sure, may be if there is a bargain. Will this property be on my top of the list in Bali? No.... I like the other property which I will say, I will definitely go back there. Indeed my stay there was the second in 3 months
