I think they should inform the guest earlier and make some arrangement to compensate the other guests
It was a massive wedding (traditional Indian wedding) and the resort was fully booked with probably a few hundred guests for the wedding. One of the restaurants, a pool, the beach area and the club lounge was taken over, although they were supposed to provide club benefits at the pool bar - when I asked I was told they knew nothing about it.
They did have notices around the hotel and also letters in the room advising what was and wasn't available, but too late once you are there to find out.
I'd say the families of the bride and groom would have paid a fortune to be there and the hotel bent over backwards for them. Great expereince if you were one of the guests, but not if you weren't.
