Pullman BKK?

Looking to book, very decent rates. I have no experience with either the brand or BKK, so do you all have any thoughts on the hotel.

Specifically,
Access to public transport?
Safety?
Quality brand?
Other thoughts?
Better hotels for the money? Right now it is 89.00/USD per night with breakfast and a bar chit.

TYIA.

Very nice hotel. Chic and modern.

1.Close to BTS, 5 minute walk or take free Tuktuk from hotel to BTS.
2. For Taxis, they would call for a taxi once you ask them in front of the main door. Takes a maximum of 2-3 minutes. Plus they give you a card to take so you can give to a taxi when getting back to the hotel.
3. Safety? They have security stations on the front and back area of the compound, several meters from the hotel and the duty free so you feel and are very safe.
4. One of the better brands with Accor.
5. You can get the cheapest and lowest rooms withut the breakfast as you can always have cheap breakfast outside the hotel. But their breakfast is good though.

Stayed here every year for the last 2 years. Looked at other good for value hotels but this is such a great hotel that we look forward to coming back here soon.

the back of the hotel going to BTS is a food haven. cheap but good food. you even have a 7/11 open 24 hours. Lovely pool and their spa is great though expensive. You'll probably spend 50-60 baht max for taxi to MBK.

xtian001 is spot on. It's one of the nicest hotels at this price range in Bangkok, love the yukata robes. For some reasons, every vehicle coming into the King Power compound will be mirror screened and trunk checked. Is it safe? Well as long as the Reds are not rioting.

I had the best river prawns at a nearby restaurant called Kuang, along soi Rangnam (I think that's what it's called).

It's a steal at this price. Big pool, great little gym. Go for it.

I second all of the above.

Plus, don't forget to feed the beautiful goldfish at the inner garden. They're so awesome.
This is a truly wonderful hotel and I also highly recommend it.

Thanks, I booked.

I know nothing about bkk, so I want to make sure it is a good buy for that price.

my daughter loved feeding the Koi's in the garden!

Oh, and they do upgrade you to the next room level if you are a Gold Status in AClub. Was upgraded to their Executive Suite from the executive room!

Enjoy your vacation!

I am staying at the Pullman now. In fact, I'm writing this from the executive lounge. This is my fourth stay here. It is my favourite Bangkok hotel -- new, great pool, competent, professional staff.

The only problems I have found is getting from the airport link terminus at Phaya Thai BTS to the hotel. It is almost next door, but still quite a trudge over a busy road with overpass in the heat carrying luggage. It is easier to take the BTS one stop to Victory Monument and find the hotel tuk tuk stop if you can. It is around the corner by the mall back entrance.

Bangkok taxi drivers also often don't know where it. Security is discreet rather than overbearing like it can be at Novotel Siam. Bangkok is a very safe city, anyway.

Had a great stay there; booked superior room and was upgraded to a deluxe as accor gold (same room but free internet....). I choose to upgrade to a suite for 2000 baht ( including lounge access with choice of restaurant or lounge for the breakfast). The upgrade was more expensive than the price i paid for the room but i didn't mind because i had accor vouchers that i wanted to use anyway.
The suite, the breakfast, the pool, the staff were all very good.I recommend this hotel.

Also, the Pullman is the best option for wine lovers!

Probably my favourite hotel in Bangkok - also love VIE at the next BTS Ratchathewi - for all the reasons mentioned in the forum, but one was ignored. The Pullman has the best option wine bar in BKK for wine lovers - simply called the Wine Pub. Great atmosphere, good entertainment, but - most importantly - good wines at reasonable (for BKK, that is) prices. They seem to specialise in getting little known labels from around the world, but all well selected. The manager certainly knew his stuff, and if you take advantage of the special promotions you can eat and drink very cheaply.

By the way, Pullman is becoming a favourite brand for me in Asia. Appears to be 5-star "without the frills" of some of the luxury brands. Stayed at Pullman Auckland last week and it was very good. Got upgraded to one of the "residences"(suites) because of AClub status and it was sensational. Also the best fitness and health spa (incl biggest indoor swimming pool) that I've experienced in NZ. Also a great location. I stayed there about three years agio when it was a Hyatt, but looks/seems a lot better. Does anyone know when Pullman took over?

Normally I stay at Hotel DeBrett in AKL, but I might consider changing to Pullman permanetly after my experience.
