HK is famous for nice service (I'm from there and you can look at some FTers comments on hotels in HK).

SG gives me very different impression - was there once long time ago and found that the best SG people are those serving on SQ flights and the SQ call centre at SG.

It takes quite some time by bus from Roxy to anywhere. You will have to take the cab for everything. That will balance out as is many case 4X bus fare will be equal to cab fare for cab fares upto 8S$.

Or maybe just a Grand Mercure Roxy thing. Ime, I find customer service great in Singapore, generally.

Missing Points from Grand Mercure Roxy SG

I was pleased to stay in GM Roxy but after checking my activity summary, suddenly I'm not happy. I lost around 345 points that I should earned

Check-in Date Transaction Date Description Number of Nights Points
12 Apr 2011 12 Apr 2011 Points Accelerator 0 284
8 Apr 2011 10 Apr 2011 Grand Mercure Roxy Hotel 2 379

I e-mailed Accor Indonesia and got reply from Accor Helpdesk stating :
Please inform the guest the stay in Grand Mercure Roxy has been credited as follows :

08 Apr 2011 10 Apr 2011
Hotel stay : Grand Mercure Roxy Hotel
Local currency : 339.20
EUR : 189.48
Points : 379 ( 189.48 x 2 = 378.96 )

08 Apr 2011 10 Apr 2011
Points Accelerator
EUR : 189.48
Points ( 75 % ) : 284 ( 75% x 379 = 284 points )

TOTAL POINTS : 663

The amount credited on the customer's accounts, it is the amount paid, without taxes or other non eligible expenses ( paid outs ). The breakfast is eligible.
I made my own calculation, I wonder where 339.20 SGD comes from?

I booked two rooms; so both rooms have to be included as eligible expenses (see A-Club T&C 7.4.4, max 2 paid rooms, excluding taxes)

1st room: 99 SGD X 2 (nights) = 198 SGD
2nd room: 99 SGD X 2 (nights) = 198 SGD

Therefore, it has to be 396 SGD.

Plus: breakfast, (see also 7.4.4 A-club T&C 2nd paragraph)
Day 1: 20 SGD X 3/4 (disc 25 % since I'm Adv+member) = 60 SGD
Day 2: 20 SGD X 3/4 (disc 25 % since I'm Adv+member) = 60 SGD

The total eligible expenses should be 516 SGD
Conversion Rate to Euro, I used the same conversion above (339.20/189.48) = 1.79
Therefore, it should be 288.27 in Euro (516 / 1.79)
Points : 288 x 2 = 576 Pts

Points Accelerator
EUR : 288
Points ( 75 % ) : 432 ( 75% x 576 = 432 points )

The Total Points that I earned should be 1,008 points (576+432) rather than 663 points. I wonder where my 345 points disappeared

I'm planning to e-mail Accor Indonesia on Monday and hope that they could help me to solve this matter or perhaps Dieu Anh could assist me on this matter.

I posted this case so other FT-ers should calculate your own points after your points posted, probably your statement is understated as I do.

Service charge is not part of the room rate. I think Accor sees it as a tip - you won't get point by tipping the concierge .

@virtualaris : It's strange! Do you have your receipt with you?
Can you please send a request for "missing points" on a-club.com (by filling the form please?) ? If you don't have any reply from our customer service within 2 weeks, please contact me directly (+your card number +receipt). Thanks !

I don't have the receipt since it's full non-refundable deposit, I only got the breakfast billing. But, I've just checked my account couple minutes ago and I think Advantage Plus customer services team has done a great job here so I don't have to disturb Dieu Anh for this time.

And yes, my points have been added correctly (1,008 points) as I previously counted. Hmmm...I could be a good mathematics teacher. LOL

But still, I'm still wondering where 663 points came from? *Just a thought

Hello virtualaris,

I'm glad you got all the points you deserve. I'm pretty sure that with your sharp, analytical mind, you could have been a very good mathematics teacher

Have a nice day!

Dieu Anh
