The Fleet Status site is:

https://sites.google.com/site/unitedfleetsite/

At the site, you can find information about the interior features, livery, etc., for every plane in United's fleet.

To determine which plane your flight will be on go to mobile.united.com and then click on flight status. Put in the flight number for your flight and just have it use today's date (occasionally it'll say flight not operated on this date in which case just choose one of the other 3 dates it lists). In the address bar you'll see something like this:

mobile.united.com/FlightStatus/FlightDetails?carrierCode=UA&flightNumber=1647&fli ghtDate=11%2F30%2F2015&origin=EWR&destination=SFO

https://mobile.united.com/FlightStat...estination=SFO

Just change the flight date to match the day of your scheduled flight and then change the origin / destination as necessary. Once you do that look in the details tab under aircraft # and if they have assigned a plane it'll say something like #3506 and the type of plane. Once you know that go to the United Fleet website listed above and cross-reference the four digit number against the "aircraft" column under the appropriate aircraft type.

Keep in mind that things change as they get closer and sometimes either they won't have assigned an aircraft yet or it'll be assigned #0 if it's a few days away and they are anticipating aircraft movement.

You may also check the specific fleet variant of each flight at the United Cargo site under "Schedules & tracking". This data tends to be reliable starting 7 days in advance, but is always subject to change.

I read elsewhere that there was a plan to retire the domestic 752's by end 2015. Is this still on track?

Four ETOPS sUA 757s will remain until next year. Seven more sUA 739s will be delivered next year, bringing the total number of 739s to 147.

Guam Flyers Be Warned

UA has shifted over some of the US domestic 737-800s to Guam so the Micronesia fleet can be refreshed and WiFi enabled etc....

Just flew on UA 197 on a domestic 737-800 and UA has temporarily outfitted these aircraft with seats in 1A and 1B that have leg rests for the pilots. However, in doing so there is no entertainment screen for 2A or 2B. Additionally, the screens in 1A and 1B appear to be disabled so as to not disturb the pilots.

A little miffed that I didn't have in flight entertainment but it's only a 3 hour flight to NRT from GUM. This is all temporary but fliers beware....

The last 788 delivered had the wifi installed by Boeing, as by that point Boeing had it offered as a delivery option. The remaining 11 frames will get retrofitted after there are enough 789s in the fleet to provide for a spare. Won't be until Q1 2016 when that retrofit begins. They will be the last birds flying without wifi.

All 8 of the GUM based 738s and 3 of the GUM based 73Gs are being sent back to the mainland not only to get the 738s reconfigured to the same layout as the mainland based 738s, but also to get the GUM based aircraft out of the high salt environment. In turn 7 mainland based 738s and 4 mainland based 73Gs will be sent to GUM and as far as I know this is long term. LiveTV and WiFi on the 737 aircraft being sent to GUM will be deactivated but the stored content will be available.

The ISP mods have finally been loaded into the system.

The following Hawaiian 772s have in-seat power confirmed: 2510, 2511, 2512, 2513, 2514, 2368, 2372. Only 2515 and 2379 remaining.

The following 753s have in-seat power confirmed: 3851-3859, 3864, 3865, 3867, 3870, 3871. Only 3860-3863, 3866, 3868, and 3869 remaining.

Boeing and UA should be embarrassed by this. A brand new aircraft without WiFi is hard to take. People get angry enough with no WiFi on the sUA 752. At least the 788 has seat back entertainment.

The stored content is not viewable in 1A-B and 2A-B so they need to find a longer term solution any why would they deactivate the WiFi? Makes no sense at all

The 737's and Airbii WiFi doesn't even work if you take the short cut across the Gulf of Mexico (ie FLL to IAH).

The Airbus wifi DOES work outside the conus. Currently the only aircraft with the conus restriction are 737s, those with DirectTV and those with GoGo.

Fair enough and appreciate the clarification but why not outfit them with the global WiFi like on the 747/777s? If this is a permanent solution as suggested by a previous poster then why not make the change. They are very fair behind in getting WiFi to the Micronesia fleet and have a population that would use the WiFi and also negates the need for the screens.

Continental had a contract with LiveTV on the 737s and 753s for entertainment, which includes wifi. It's why the pricing structure is different on these planes too. United can't outfit these craft with their own global wifi. Every other plane has the global wifi system, including the 753s that weren't originally CO deliveries. So unless LiveTV updates their system (which won't happen for the sake of a few planes in Micronesia), the 737s and 753s with dTV will have CONUS-only wifi until retirement.

Just got off E170 tail N655rw, had operational WiFi. Not speeds worth paying for, but technically it was on.

wifi on the island hopper would be a game changer! but at this point i'd be happy with ISP.

any idea on the timeline for when the 737s will be rotated in/out of GUM? i have a trip in late september.
