United Airlines Fleet Updates [2015 Edition]

The Fleet Status site is:

At the site, you can find information about the interior features, livery, etc., for every plane in United's fleet.

To determine which plane your flight will be on go to mobile.united.com and then click on flight status. Put in the flight number for your flight and just have it use today's date (occasionally it'll say flight not operated on this date in which case just choose one of the other 3 dates it lists). In the address bar you'll see something like this:

Just change the flight date to match the day of your scheduled flight and then change the origin / destination as necessary. Once you do that look in the details tab under aircraft # and if they have assigned a plane it'll say something like #3506 and the type of plane. Once you know that go to the United Fleet website listed above and cross-reference the four digit number against the "aircraft" column under the appropriate aircraft type.

Keep in mind that things change as they get closer and sometimes either they won't have assigned an aircraft yet or it'll be assigned #0 if it's a few days away and they are anticipating aircraft movement.

You may also check the specific fleet variant of each flight at the United Cargo site under "Schedules & tracking". This data tends to be reliable starting 7 days in advance, but is always subject to change.

N654UA...anyone know what's up? It's en route MIA-ORD right now, but looks like it's been sitting in MIA for about 3 weeks. It's operating my ORD-LHR tomorrow, so just curious...

The 763 cockpit updates are being done in MIA. Nothing that you'll notice on the flight really. That unit already has streaming and Wifi.

73G N15712 is on its way to joint the GUM fleet

738 N14240 is on its way to INT for conversion back to mainland fleet

OK, no answers there, so perhaps someone here knows can shed a light. 895 on Monday, 28 December apparently got diverted to SFO, from where (I assume) it flew next day to HKG as UA2102.

What I did NOT seen yesterday (Tuesday) was UA869, but according to UA's Flight Status & Information page both flew SFO-HKG, as well as 895 from ORD

United Express Year-End Fleet

Happy 2016 from Australia!

Here's a quick summary of the UAX fleet in 2015:

61 50-seater jets were removed from service (18 CR2s, 4 ER3s, 39 ER4s). [ER3s included even though 37 seats]
16 Q400s were removed from service, leaving a fleet of 15.
The entire fleet of 44 EM120s were retired.
52 76-seat E75s were delivered.
Gogo wifi and Streaming PDE added to over 75% of CR7/E70/E75 fleet. (E70 fleet 100% completed)


Year-End UAX Fleet:

CRJ-200 fleet: 76 Total (50 operated by Skywest for UAX plus 26 operated by Skywest on pro-rate arrangement) - reductions continue in 2016

CRJ-700 fleet: 115 total (70 Skywest, 20 Mesa, 25 GoJet) - reductions begin 2016

E170 fleet: 38 total (35 Shuttle America, 3 loaned to Republic) - no changes anticipated

E175 fleet: 85 total (40 Skywest, 33 Mesa, 12 Republic) - fleet additions in 2016 to all three carriers

ERJ-145 fleet: 206 total (166 ExpressJet, 39 TransStates, 1 Commutair) - fleet transition continues in 2016 from XJT to both TSA and Commutair, fleet exits continue in 2016

ERJ-135 fleet: 5 total (all ExpressJet) - likely elimination of type in 2016

Q200 fleet: 16 total (all Commutair) - no changes anticipated

Q300 fleet: 5 total (all Commutair) - no changes anticipated

Q400 fleet: 15 total (all Republic) - elimination of type in 2016

ATR42 fleet: 2 total (all Cape Air) - no changes anticipated
