Version 1 is no longer in service (12 Feb 2017).
Note: This Wiki and thread is devoted to the pmUA 3-Cabin 777 Version 1. There is a second thread, and more extensive Wiki about both planes, in the Wiki and thread on Version 2. This thread should be used for discussion of Version 1, although older posts may refer to Version 2 (they were split 8/30/14).

And, if you're looking for the thread about pmCO 777, it's here: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/united-airlines-mileageplus/1475682-everything-you-want-know-about-where-sit-pmco-777-international-5.html
How can you tell from seat map which version you're on? Look at the seat map image below - if it's this, you're on Version 1
Version 1 vs. Version 2
There are two version of the international 3-class pmUA airplane.
"Version 1" on the United website has 8 First, 40 Business, and 218 coach seats. (no longer in service)
"Version21" has 8 First, 40 Business, and 221 coach seats. (formerly Version 2 is now Version 1).
One unique attribute of Version 1 was the crew rest seats at the back of the E+ cabin in the middle section of Rows 29 and 30 (seats DEG). On most flights these seats were curtained off and dedicated for use by the crew. However, they were sometimes available when these planes were used on shorter routes and there was no need for crew rest. They provided much better legroom and footrests. This post contains a description and pictures: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/25059936-post991.html
Fixed bassinets were available in economy 19G, 34G -- none in BF or GF.

Not only pmUA and 777.
Been checking my seats (as I always do - so far had to call in at least 3 times to have ticket resynced ), and on pmCO 752 TATL config 21 DEF went from occupied to absent. Since those three seats seem to be the only ones occupied on both flights when I purchased about 3 months ago figured they must be crew rest.

How is 6C?
I have sat in 8C several times on this aircraft. It's fine and private (no row in front), particularly if nobody is sitting next to you, but I'd like to try a change of scenery.
How is 6C? It's rear facing which many say is more comfortable.
I like sitting on the aisle of the center section as folks can exit the row on the other aisle if I'm asleep.

Is there a seat 20C and 20H on that flight and UA896? Flight Guru shows only A,B and J,K on the outside rows and that's what was displayed on United when I selected my seats. But if you go to the flight status page and lookup the current flight the seat map shows A,B,C and H,J,K. I selected B and J on the return thinking they were isle seats.

I sleep better on a rear facing seat. Because the aircraft is pitched slightly upward during level flight, your head is slightly above your feet in a rear-facing seat.

Odd United 777 Configuration
I was looking at a flight map for LH918 from IAD to LHR on a 777 and noticed that the window seats for row 2 do not exist.
According to United's website, none of their 777s have this configuration. Anybody know what is going on?

Pilot rest seats?
2A and 6A are definitely rest seats, as I have observed or sat next to a pilot there more than once.

Why doesn't it show them then? Usually, it just shows 1 as occupied for crew rest, and weird that the other one is gone as well

They recently started showing certain blocked seats as completely missing, for some reason.

You're all wrong. This is the beginning of a quiet withdrawal of GF - first one seat disappears, then a second, and pretty soon, UA can say "no one is buying GF so we're scrapping it."

This is on an XJ aircraft where they fly with 4 pilots and I don't think they have the bunk on XJ aircraft, so a second GF suite gets taken out of service for crew rest. Guess UA figured the cost of taking an additional GF suite out of service was less than building in a rest bunk.
