FAQ

Q: Which routes have full flat seats in Royal Silk?
A: Only the Airbus A380-800, A350-900, Boeing 777-300ER, 787-8 and 787-9 feature full flat seats in Royal Silk. The A380 is used on the following routes: LHR, CDG, FRA, HKG, KIX and NRT.
The B777-300ER regularly serves these destinations: OSL, CPH, ARN, FRA, BRU, ZRH, VIE, SIN, PVG, PEK, MEL and BNE. It also regularly flies domestic runs to HKT and CNX.

Q: Which routes get the new 747 «suites»?
A: Any route which is scheduled to be operated by a Boeing 747 might see the new «suites», but some routes are more likely to get them (but not guaranteed). These routes are: MUC, HKG, HND and SYD. Flights to HKT are often operated by the them, although these flights are without First class service.

Q: What are the chances of ending up on one of the old Boeing 747s with recliner seats in Royal First and Silk?
A: 0 %. All Boeing 747s have been converted and feature full flat seats in Royal First and angle flat seats in Royal Silk. Every seat in Economy also features a PTV with AVOD and AC power (every two seats).

Q: To which destinations do TG offer Royal First?
A: LHR, CDG, FRA, MUC, HKG, KIX, NRT, HND and SYD. Flights to PEK and PVG have "seasonal" (rather occasional) F service.

Q: Which version of the Boeing 777 features Royal First?
A: None. TG leased a handful of Boeing 777-300ERs from Indian Jet Airways a few years ago, that had eight enclosed first class suites. These aircraft have been returned to Jet Airways and are no longer in the fleet.

Q: Which destinations are served by wifi enabled planes?
A: Airbus A380 on routes to LHR, CDG, FRA, HKG, KIX, NRT. A330 (Only the 33H-version) on routes to PER, TPE, PVG, HKG, KIX, ICN and other intra Asian routes. A350 on routes to MEL.

All of the information above is based on seat maps from TG's own website and fleet information from planespotter(dot)com, as well as on information already available on this forum thanks to its dedicated members. Cabin views are from airliners(dot)net and jetphotos(dot)net.

Please feel free to comment if you have more information and if anything I've written is false. I appreciate all the help I can get.

And remember: There is always the possibility of being TG'ed (being subject to a last minute equipment change). Thus you never know which aircraft and configuration you will get until you actually set foot on the aircraft.

Happy flying!

This has probably been answered before, but couldnt find it with a quick search.

Which seat would you prefer on the new 9F cabin 747? From the pictures, i would consider 2A/K as the most "private" ones? Looks like row 1 could be a bit close together if you are travelling alone?

And also, on the A380 is row 2 more quiet than row 1, thinking about the placement of the bar, stairs and lavatories.

I see that all my three legs with 747 now show as the 9F, but i understand that you never know what could show up at the gate. Any seat that is a safe bet for both configs?

I´m currently in 2K on A380, 2Kx2 and 1Kx1 on the 747

edit: Also suggest the first post to add LHR as operated by the A380?

747: actually not a big deal; I would indeed say 2A/K are the most private; But also the single suite in the middle (2E) is ok, but on the 10 seat configuration, you have 2F pretty close and it is not private at all.

A380: row 2 is slightly more quiet then row 1 and 3

Thank you, i think i will stick with my current seats then. Also "fun" to have been seated in row 1 on a 747

Syd-bkk 747 f

Does anyone know the configuration of the SYD-BKK 747 F?

Just ticketed an award SYD-BKK-HKG online with UA which automatically assigned us to 3EF on the 747 SYD-BKK. We rather be in window seats one after another. The short hop BKK-HKG is on a 330, UA assigned us 12AB. I gather it is the 2nd row of the business cabin.

I remember TG has an email address for its office in Los Angeles that one can email them to request seat assignment. I used it in 2014. Unfortunately I could not find it now. Anybody has that information available? I really would like to email instead of phone call to change our seats on the 747 long haul.

Thanks.

Aircraft is not guaranteed obviously but typically TG476 has new suite F and TG472 often older 10F config. If you can get your TG PNR from either TG or UA you can manage your own seat selection online - I suspect you'd have to call TG to get it however so would be just as well requesting seats on the same call. Getting the TG PNR will also allow you to pre order meals etc.

Hi all,

I am wondering if anyone out there has flown much on the 787 in business? For a single traveller what seat would you recommend and which would you avoid in the J cabin?

Many thanks in advance.

All 773ERs have full flat bed, staggered seating...they were delivered that way, not refurbed.

Probably unlikely that 772, 772ER or 773 will be refurbed any time soon.

Presumably you will want a seat in the centre pair so that you and your potential seat mate both have aisle access, probably not in the front row.
