UPDATE: October 26, 2017
Effective December 17, 2017 the SPG partnership with Uber will come to an end.

Members who have met all of the requirements to earn Starpoints in accordance with the SPG-Uber benefits program, including, without limitation, having a Stay posted to their SPG Member account for the current calendar year will continue to earn Starpoints on Uber rides up until 11:59PM on December 17, 2017.

If the stay overlaps with the program end date, you will still earn 2 starpoints per USD 1 spent on Uber rides taken during your stay. Any rides taken after 11:59 on December 17, 2017 even if taken during a stay that originated on or before December 17, 2014 will not earn starpoints on that uber ride.

Frequently Asked Questions

When will members stop earning Starpoints on their Uber rides?
Members who have met all of the requirements to earn Starpoints in accordance with the SPG-Uber benefits program, including, without limitation, having a Stay posted to their SPG Member account for the current calendar year will continue to earn Starpoints on Uber rides up until 11:59PM on December 17, 2017, subject to applicable limits.

If members have a stay that overlaps with the program end date, will they still earn 2 Starpoints per US$1 spent on Uber rides taken during the stay?
Yes, members who check-in for a Stay prior to 11:59PM on December 17, 2017 and have an Uber pick-up time prior to 11:59PM on December 17, 2017, subject to applicable limits, will earn 2 Starpoints for every U.S. dollar or its foreign equivalent denomination spent for fares on the Uber ride(s). Any rides taken after 11:59PM on December 17, 2017, even if taken during a stay that originated on or prior to December 17, 2017, will not earn Starpoints on the Uber ride(s). To earn Starpoints for any Uber ride the member must have met all of the requirements to earn Starpoints in accordance with the SPG-Uber benefits program, including, without limitation, having a Stay posted to their SPG Member account for the current calendar year.

Why did I recently have a delay in my Starpoints posting for my Uber rides?
An issue was identified affecting Uber rides over the last month that delayed the posting of points to member accounts. We have since fixed this issue and members should receive all ride credits within the stated 2-4 week period.

UPDATE: January 18, 2017
Uber Partnership Update
  • During Hotel stay: Members will earn two Starpoints per US$1 spent with Uber (versus two, three or four Starpoints per US$1, depending on member tier).
  • Everyday: members will earn one Starpoint per US$2 spent with Uber (versus one Starpoint per US$1).

With your SPG and Uber accounts linked and you have met a requirement of ONE qualifying stay in the current calendar year, SPG members will earn 1 point per dollar spent with Uber on every day rides. For rides during stays, SPG members will earn 2 points per dollar spent on Uber (Preferred), 3 points per (Gold or Platinum), or 4 points per (Plat75).

There is a maximum of $10,000 in points-earning spend with Uber per calendar year. This means that you could have up to 40,000 SPG points with this promotion (if you were a Plat75 and only used Uber while on SPG stays and maxed out $10,000 in Uber services).

Uber to spg points not posting?

Anyone else notice their uber rides aren't posting points? Mine worked till late April and now I notice that all of May none of my Uber rides have posted to my account. Is there some new wrinkle/rule I am missing?

I've got the same impression; my recent Uber points are not credited. Furthermore, I see something else quite strange in my starpoints overview.

I went to Sheraton La Caleta last week and booked a room with breakfast (they only offer rates with breakfast). At check-in I've chosen the 500 points as a welcome gift and Make a Green Choice.
After my stay 500 welcome points and the green choice points are credited.

Today I've noticed that the points have been removed again from my account! In my starpoints overview they have been replaced by "platinum gift: breakfast, 0 points". How could I have chosen breakfast as a welcome gift if I paid for breakfast already? Besides there is even a club lounge, so no need to choose breakfast as a welcome gift.

When I took a closer look at my SPG account, it seemed that from several stays in 2016 my welcome points have been removed, after being added first. I was a bit confused about this, because once points are credited I never look back into my account to check whether they are still there. Would be crazy to do this for my 120 nights last 1,5 year. But it seems worth it.

Any other experiences with vanishing starpoints?

I was truly amazed to see that my very first Uber ride points posted within 16 hours of the journey: 3 points followed soon after by an additional 3 bonus points. (Uber is very inexpensive in Bangkok and I took the journey to get the hang of the system.)

Have you contacted research? They would be able to tell you exactly what's going on.

I think you should check with SPG and see what's the matter. I will be checking my account soon.

I've sent them screenshots and 7 reservation numbers of subsequently removed hotel stays and credits in 2016, so let's wait for the answer.

I didn't mention the Uber points yet, since it's a different case: they just haven't been posted (yet).

It can take as long as 4 weeks for either Uber ride or Uber-related stay bonuses to be credited. If anyone has any that are still missing after this time-frame, we are glad to follow up on them by request via PM here at Flyertalk or by email to the email address below.

Same boat here. Points used to post within a day but now they're all MIA.

Thanks for the response, William - let's see...

William...while we know that's the "letter of the law", pretty much since the program was instituted base fare points have posted within a day, and any stay-related bonus points within a few days after that.

So - given that, has something "broken" with the process in the past week? Thanks.

Hi ZBigFam,

If your Uber rides are still missing after the 4 weeks deadline, do email us your Uber receipts and SPG account details so that we can check it out for you.

I second that. Why wait for troubleshooting if the normal posting time exceed already the normal standard by several days. I can only imagine that after passing 4 weeks the SPG demand on corrections will have a huge peak, why not steer against that earlier. I made a ticket at Uber first, see whats happening...
