Why are you guys paying for parking? I just park in the garage and it's free. And from what I read before, IF the garage is full, they'll valet for free.

I think they have thrown in parking. If you look at the latest management responses to TA reviews it states:

"As of Nov 3, all guests receive complimentary valet service at LeMeridien Delfina and a new shuttle service also started that day which drops off at the beach, shopping, and a few other places in Santa Monica"

Then the property needs to update their page on SPG.com which states:

Self-parking is complimentary. Overnight valet parking is available upon request at a fee of 32 USD plus tax, with complimentary in-and-out privileges. The hotel rewards hybrid car owners with a 10 USD discount on the valet fee. In addition, a 35 USD credit is applied to the stay of guests who arrives via mass transit (with receipt of usage) or when driving a hybrid car. Credits and discounts are applied upon check-in.

If I wanted a wellness class or bike rental let me pay as I go... don't force an $18 daily fee on me!

Sorry, just cancelled my reservation as this fee was the final straw. No upgrades, poor Plat treatment, absurd parking and now an egregious mandatory daily fee. Reviews on the website are very poor too. Bye bye.
Given that that there were no updates to the thread, rather varying comments previously and the fact that SNA only offers an ADA junior suite, I have also cancelled my stay. It certainly looks as though I made the right decision based on the fees you posted - I didn't see anything like this anywhere. I have no problems paying for extras that I use, but I passionately disagree with these silly "packages" that North American properties seem to add on.

anyone stay here recently? prices seem steep (> $300/nt) which puts this on par, on a pricing basis, with w westwood and sls.

W Westwood is 10x better. Maybe 100x. The staff at the Santa Monica Le Meridian are nice, but the property feels pretty tired, it's a remodeled Sheraton I think. I've stayed at the W Westwood many times and no hesitation, if the price was close I'd stay there for sure even if it meant being a little further out.

Been a couple months, but will be there next week. Free parking somewhat makes it a bit more competitive. My best corporate rate jumped from $210 or so up to $250.

Mainly only doing it as it's my best option on the Westside, need to go to the Valley for work.

I'd of course happily do the W, but not for the extra $100 all-in/night.

Thumbs down Sham resort fee alert

Pretty reprehensible for a non-resort, non-beach property to do. $18 daily mandatory for parking (formerly free), water, and Internet (plus some other rental crap that will undoubtedly go unused by 99% of guests).

Lurkers, can you find out what our alternate amenity now is here?

Thanks.

Let's not forget that this property was a Four Points before it was a Sheraton!

alternate amenity update

FYI, my Ambassador has informed me that the alternate amenity is the full breakfast in addition to the 500 Plat points, which IMO is a fair substitute for the $18/daily. No idea though what composes breakfast.

She also mentioned it was for just one room, which IIRC is different from SOP when one has booked multiple rooms (please correct me if I'm wrong).

Hi UA-NYC,

Thanks for your patience while we looked into this.

The hotel is currently reviewing options. At this time, they are offering full breakfast or two drinks at the bar as an alternate.

That's untrue or not uniformly offered... I didn't even know there was a resort fee until I checked out... No mention during booking, at check in or in the room. I stayed 2 1/2 weeks ago.

They also do not disclose this fee on their website for points bookings which is in direct violation of FTC disclosure requirements.

My Ambassador didn't know they even offered an alternate amenity when we spoke today.

My apologies, but key people at the hotel were out of pocket until recently and the full breakfast or two drinks at the bar alternative was a stop-gap until they returned and were able to make a final decision on what the alternative is to be. They have decided that it will be a movie a day as an alternative to the Amenity Fee charge, that includes internet.

We were also advised that the Amenity Fee charge is mentioned in room and tax charges during the booking process in the rate description.

Wow...not to shoot the messenger or anything, but this is one of the poorest alternates I can remember seeing

My previous "you gotta be kidding me" was the 100 points a day the Westin Beaver Creek offered up...I think I might actually take that over the daily movie.

My two previous stays at this hotel have been anything but memorable, sometimes free is not worth it, will just pay and stay someplace on the beach next time... JMO!
