It can take up to 7 business days from the day you qualified for your Lifetime Platinum status to be picked up by the system.

Starwood / Marriott merger
Q : What will happen to my Lifetime Status when the programs merge together in the future?
A : Rest assured we will always recognize your Lifetime Status, whether it is today in your earned program or in the future with a new, combined program.

This is awesome. I joined SPG in 2009 but should be lifetime Plat by 2019 when I retire.

I've cut down travelling significantly to spend more time at home. Now all these new perks make me want to start travelling again.

well done SPG ^

Hi William:
Great program. Thank you!!!!

Now for one clarification. Follow me here a little:

1 plus 1 equals 2
2 plus 2 equals 4
250 plus 250 equals 500

Sooooooo
If I have 250 nights and my wife separately has 250 nights, then we should both be Lifetime Platinum, right?

Note that we are not quite there yet, but if the incentive is great enough, we will find a way to get there.

That would be nice, wouldn't it?

Join in at Lifetime Platinum as soon as you can though.

Ugh. As expected. I am still working on getting UA to recognize my wife's 1.5 million miles and my 1.5 million miles as 3 million miles. I expect eventually one travel supplier (airline or hotel) will cave.

The requirement for 250/500 NIGHTS seems to put those of us that do quick in and out one night stands at a disadvantage.

Was there ever any though of using a certain number of STAYS as a target to achive status as well as NIGHTS?

I am absolutely sure that there were a multitude of scenarios examined that made the cutting room floor.

I'm curious how many of us are part of the inaugural group of Lifetime Platinums.

I really don't see this number tangibly devaluing Platinum status at all since the odds that somebody has qualified for Platinum 10 out of the 13 years SPG has been in existence and is not qualified now is probably small.

That would be me then! Plat for 10 consecutive years, but only at 430 odd nights. Probably another six months before I get into those hallowed halls.

+1. It may change in longer term when people are retiring from travel and/or their jobs.

Yes, but I'm not complaining because I still did over 50 nights last year.

And I am now aiming to cross 500 in the next six months!

I checked with SPG and I need 231 more nights and 2 years of Platinum. Yay! I should make it about 4 years.

Yes- Nice benefit ^

But.....it NOW explaines why Starwood made a bunch of adjustments downward on lifetime nights (without any explanation) on a number of user accounts this past fall......

Perhaps to not "dilute" lifetime platinum status, *wood should have made this a 13th anniversary promotion. So only those who attain the 10 years/500 nights by 12/31/12 would be inducted in the hallowed lifetime halls?
