It can take up to 7 business days from the day you qualified for your Lifetime Platinum status to be picked up by the system.

Starwood / Marriott merger
Q : What will happen to my Lifetime Status when the programs merge together in the future?
A : Rest assured we will always recognize your Lifetime Status, whether it is today in your earned program or in the future with a new, combined program.

With regard to the number of years at elite component, yes. Same for the Amex Centurion card relationship (applied to Lifetime Gold criteria only; not towards Lifetime Platinum), Starwood Vacation Ownership relationship, or even achieving the $30k annual spend on the US Starwood Preferred Guest credit card from American Express (which gives you Gold status), would all have that year at elite count toward the Lifetime qualifications.

Can any of the lurkers say if Lifetime Platinums will have higher priority than non-lifetime Plats. for clearing available upgrades remaining at check-in????

Thanks William.

I am looking forward to this being fixed before March (at least for me).

BTW, this is a GREAT benefit for those like myself. In the past during the downturn in the economy where travel was limited I was jumping between hotels to make sure I kept my status. Now, with lifetime Plat, I can stay at one hotel and worry about making nights (50/75/100) instead of Stays.

They keep saying that they wont disclose the secret sauce/art on how upgrades work.

There was 5 - 6 years where AMEX Centurion Members were given Platinum Status.

That is proprietary information, so that will always be the answer going forward.

Trade

Hello, If you have over 1400 eliigble nights but only 7 years of being a Platinum Member, can you trade in 900 of the eligible nights in exchange for 3 years of being a Platinum Member

So whilst this is in many ways positive for those with or close to the appropriate threshold levels won't this be negative for Starwood? If I were a newly minted lifetime Plat I would be prioritising stays at other chains except for those periods in which SPG offered exceptional promos or where I liked a particular individual property.

The other potential impact for those of us who conventionally renew plat is an increased pool of Plats chasing a diminishing pool of upgrades (especially after the suite nights awards go live).

I've been digging around on the SPG website trying to find the nights counter. I can't find it.

Can anyone give me a hint?

Maybe I don't have one, because every stay I've had has been an award or cash+points stay? Not sure this is the case, but it may be.

I just got my Lifetime Platinum e-mail. Now I'm feeling...old. Old but good.

Thanks SPG. Consider yourselves part of my Lifetime Loyalty groups.

Found it. "Since 2005, you have a total of 1 stays and 5 nights"

It's here:

I used the chat feature to ask how many years I had Platinum and they told me right away. So I presume calling would work as well.

PS Bummed to find out it was only five years of Plat...I thought it would have been more, although I knew it wasn't the required 10 years...

I just received a telephone call congratulating me on lifetime platinum. Very nice call and the concierge couldn't have been more enthusiastic about the new benefits. As the program apparently has only been around since 1999 there can't be all that many lifetimers out there yet.

Fair enough. I was just interested in whether SPG was planning to consider lifetime Platinums as somehow a higher "soft status" than non-lifetimes.
