Just completed a 1-nighter (C+P). Upgraded to Junior Suite type of room. Very spacious and very well kept, but quite some noise from the road, and limited view / no balcony. Good for space, bad for benefitting from the location.
Staff at this hotel is incredibly friendly, and overall it is great to have them back with Starwood. The property is very well maintained (rooms, hallways, and a very nice Spa).
Breakfast would have been extra, so we just went out and got a croissant. We did not have dinner there, but went to www.Drachenwand.at at St. Lorenz (15-20min drive). Highly recommended !

Looks like a great value as a cat. 3 on C&P. In the past, they always upgraded us to their two-story rooms as a Plat and they were really friendly. Will have to go back there soon.

Awesome hotel. It's a great combo to stay at the Golderner Hirsch for a few nights then move to the Jagdhof! ^

could not agree more. It is one of those hotels where you know things will be fine and they know what they are doing. Just FYI, C+P wasn't available on SPG.com, but when phoning Plat line they could book it without a problem. Indeed a superb value at Cat 3. We were there during Salzburg Festival, not sure if an even better upgrade would have been possible.
A small disappointment, we wanted the 4pm checkout but they said they could only do 1pm. I didn't push it, especially as the Schloss had our room ready

I will be here during Christmas 2010. Anyone know if I can expect snow there? I think it's to low to be certain of snow but do I have a good chance?
I will be staying with my family and Grandmother so we will have to take the car to go to town anyway so the isolated location doesn't matter that much.
Any reviews on how this place in in winter? I can book a Christmas dinner for 100€ pp which seems reasonable. For the room's I found a great deal on Expedia, so I used the BRG and got them for 80 Euro a night incl breakfast (€155 on SPG.com)!

Jagdof or Sheraton Salzburg?
I will staying in Salzburg two nights early April. I currently have booked one night at the Goldener Hirsch and one at the Jagdof.
I just read the glowing reviews for the Sheraton Salzburg. My question is now which two hotels should I try? Sheraton Salzburg has a great lounge, Goldener Hirsch has old world charm. I think Jagdof has a nice spa.

Just came back from a two-night stay. Even though the property itself was not that impressive, but I will come back again if I visit Salzburg next time because the extremely friendly and lovely staffs.
I was upgraded to a suite, space was spacious but the view of the suite was limited, there was no balcony, no club lounge. The spa was good. The area where hotel locate is nice, there were several small villages and seas around. I took one day to drive around the area, it was very beautiful, highly recommended.
The staffs in the hotel were really friendly and helpful, no matter from frontdesk or restaurant, I was always treated as their friend even though I could not speak German. There were warm smiles on everybody's face all the time. Whenever you asked some questions or suggestions, they will try their best to help you. I really appreciate their great service and always tip them more than 30%.
Highly recommended

CIT85 -- I would book at the Golderner Hirsch. That hotel (charm, furnishings, location) is my favorite hotel in the entire SPG chain. :-:

I did like the Lounge at the Sheraton Salzburg. I think I'll stay with the Goldener Hirsch and Sheraton Salzburg for future stays, whenever that may be.
