What is allowance on your QF J ticket?
Anyway for 3 weeks in NZ taking 40kg each is far too much.

As your other post, only the person with OW Sapphire gets the extra. Not all passengers on the PNR

One thing I'm not sure about is the statement from the Qantas website ...."On international or domestic itineraries using the baggage allowance "weight" system - 15 kgs in addition to the ticketed Economy baggage allowance."
So, we have J tickets with 40kg, does that mean I get the economy allowance of 30kg + 15kg, or the business allowance 40kg + 15kg?
And, what's annoying is that the One World page on Qatar Airways states extra baggage allowance, but then gives no details, http://www.qatarairways.com/qa/en/on...-benefits.page
So, whilst my ticket states 40kg for both QR and QF, I actually think it's 45KG, but can't find anywhere that really confirms this.
It really should be simpler than this.
Cheers, Stephen.

I had an email from QF after querying this and they said....
"To answer your question, we have contacted Qantas check-in staff at Sydney airport.
They advise as a OneWorld Sapphire member travelling business class on Qantas operated flights your free checked baggage allowance is 45kg (maximum weight per piece 32kg)."
Not sure if this is 100% correct, but 45kg will be enough for me and 40kg for my wife.

Since the Economy allowance of 30Kg plus the 15Kg extra exceeds the business allowance of 40Kg, this 45KG allowance applies
For OW Emerald, it would be 20Kg on top of allowance of class of service , so for business class would be 60Kg

For OW Sapphire , this is correct. The allowance is economy allowance plus 15k OR the allowance of the class of travel, whichever is higher.

I'm OK with 45KG, but as we're flying QR, who should be the same, I still need confirmation, I'll probably just try and do 40KG each, and we'll have no hassles.

Thanks for confirming. It just seems that some airlines calculate the rule differently, i.e. its baggage allowance at the fair pad for plus 15kg.

It is only OW Emerald where there is a simple entitlement to an additional allowance on top of the ticketed allowance for the cabin

Spoke to QR yesterday, they stated 55kg in business for a OWS passenger. I didn't argue, but will be keeping it to 40-45kg just in case.

Reviving this thread as I'm confused about domestic allowances, and contacting QF directly hasn't yet answered my question, nor has searching here.
As a OW Sapphire travelling on a purely domestic flight in economy class, what is my checked baggage allowance? I'm right in thinking that the QF's own FF entitlement to a second bag doesn't apply, but the extra 15kg on the weight-based system for a OWS does?
So, from the table on the QF website here, I'd be entitled to a nominal 38kg but actually it's one piece at a max of 32kg?
Thanks!

If you are travelling where the weight allowance applies, you are entitled to an extra 15Kg
If you are travelling where the piece allowance applies, you are entitled to 1 extra piece where the normal allowance is 1 piece
If on a weight based routing , the allowance will exceed 32 Kg, so will need to use a minimum of 2 bags in order to fully utilise it
