Tail numbers don't really help as they aren't publicly released before an aircraft pulls up to the gate (for obvious safety reasons)..

Essentially if you are on a 333 (once QPJ goes in for refurb - likely any day) you are guaranteed the new product.

If you are on a 332 its still luck of the draw...
Best guide is from the published seat maps for the flight - if business is 2x2x2 its not a refurb, if its 1x2x1 it is.

A travel agent with access to GDS or using Expertflyer will let you view seatmaps (a limited number for free, or paid subscriptions as well)

How would one recognize the economy seatmap as being an upgraded 330...before trying to upgrade to J with points?

Either using EF with a free/paid account..

or.
A refurb will have Y seats as follows.
23ABJK/24DEFG - 39ABDEFGJK
44ABDEFGJK - 57ABJK/58DEF
See: http://www.qantas.com/infodetail/fly...32-28J243Y.pdf

The two SkyBed Aircraft stop at 35 and restart at 45
The remaining Millenium/Recaro aircraft dont have 24DEFG, stop at 42 and restart at 44

Qf 51 bne-sin

Hey guys,

any idea if QF 51 (A332) is usually with the newly refurbished business class seat ? Flying out May 18. Seat chart on QF website currently shows new business class seats but am just curious if this is likely to change 1 month out or if this is pretty much confirmed.

Cheers from Brisbane,

pswissoz

According to http://www.theqantassource.com/qfflighttracker.html, chances look good.

Does anyone know what the current status of A333 and A332 refurbs are?
Shouldn't the A333's all be done by now?

There's at least one 332 with the old 7 across Biz domestic seating (with the tray in the middle seat). I know because I was on it last Friday. Didn't catch the tail number (letters).

Current status is:
Refurb complete
A330-300 9 / 10 - QPA, QPB, QPC, QPD, QPE, QPF, QPG, QPH, QPI
A330-200 11 / 18 - EBA, EBB, EBC, EBD, EBE, EBF, EBJ, EBK, EBN, EBS, EBV

At the moment all 9 active A333s are refurbed.
The 10th A333 VH-QPJ currently under refurb and expected out approx 1 June.

The non-refurb 332s are in a variety of J-class configs.
2 - 36J/199Y Int/Dom with SkyBed I, RC AVOD - EBG, EBL
4 - 36J/268Y Dom with 2x3x2 J Recaro workbench, Panasonic AVOD - EBO, EBP, EBQ, EBR
1 - 36J/265Y Dom with 2x2x2 J Silverwing, Panasonic AVOD - EBM
EBG/EBL are predominately used on SYD-HNL/MNL/PVG, the others are generally domestic only

Makes no sense using fully refurbed 332's to from Perth and not to PVG HNL at least - silver wing J seats is just crazy those ac should be domestic only.

Read again.
It's only EBG/EBL (the SkyBed I equipped aircraft) on those international routes.

I don't think the Silverwing/Recaro aircraft have ever been used to Asia

Apologies. Didn't read your post closely enough. Phew to that.

I booked a QF MEL-SYD domestic flight in J and the aircraft type is 332 with 1-2-1 seat config.
Hopefully this won't change and I will get to experience the new J seats for the first time!

Latest status
A330-300 10 / 10 - QPA, QPB, QPC, QPD, QPE, QPF, QPG, QPH, QPI, QPJ
A330-200 11 / 18 - EBA, EBB, EBC, EBD, EBE, EBF, EBJ, EBK, EBN, EBS, EBV

All 333s now complete. Only 9 active as QPG is in SIN getting the New Roo paintjob (QPH-QPJ also still carry the old one)

EBM is now in for refurb and due out end-June, so there are only six 332s in old-style config - 2 with SkyBeds (EBG,EBL) and 4 with the 2x3x2 workspace (EBO-EBR)
