For each request, please include the following information:

Departure Airport:
Miles Needed:
Required Spend or Maximum Budget (choose one, and state the value):
Available Travel Dates:
Required Metal or Codeshares Okay:

Route(s) You've Already Searched:
Do you have a Chinese Visa (Yes/No)?

For each response. Please quote the original request. DO NOT START A NEW THREAD.
There are many good fares to China (PEK or PVG). If you have a Chinese visa, these options will be provided.

If your requested PQM is in a few thousand, please give a more accurate amount. You will get fewer options with a roundup number (eg, 5000 instead of 4830; IAD-SFO nonstop will work for the latter.)

1st Attempt at Mileage Run

Hello All,

While I am not new to flying ro achieving status within UA, I am new to this concept on mileage runs, and from reading these posts, its somehting I definitely want to try when I can.

That being said, I do travel for business, but not enough to rely on just that to get me to a higher status. I am looking to be at UA Gold by April.

I currently live in the LA area and typically fly from Burbank or LAX. I also have family within 20 min of EWR if need be.

On one of my last LAX-EWR-LAX flights, I was able to take a bump and given and $800 electronic certificate towards future travel. After reading this thread, I started thinking about taking a qucik trip halfway around the world just to say I was there and see how many miles I could rack up.

If anyone has a better suggestion to match the miles or make it cheaper or longer, please let me know, I am open to all opinions.

3/6/17
LAX-EWR UA1961 6:00AM - 2:10PM

EWR-LAX-SFO-SIN UA751, UA283, UA1 3:59PM - 7:45AM (3/8/17)

3/8/17
SIN-SFO-LAX-EWR UA2, UA653, UA1416 9:45AM - 9:25PM
----POTENTIALLY----
EWR-MCO-LAX UA1784, UA454 10:00PM - 8:58AM (3/9/17)

----OR----
3/9/17
EWR-LAX (Any flight 6:00AM-4:45PM)

From my calculations, I am looking at 27,278 PQM with EWR-LAX and 28,079 with EWR-MCO-LAX.

Pricing is as follows:

LAX-EWR $129
EWR-LAX-SFO-SIN-SFO-LAX-EWR $655.86
EWR-MCO-LAX $209 // EWR-LAX $179

As I mentioned, I have an $800 credit, so my out of pocket maximum would be $193.86.

Is this a decent 1st attempt?

Thanks for any and all help,

Brian

I'd rather book a Business First ticket LAX-EWR-SJU.

Round trip would net 16,000 EQM and you'd be in First the whole way, never leave the country and not Murder your buttocks by flying to SIN in coach.

Looks good to me. The EWR-SIN fare is an excellent regular fare. Don't forget about PQM requirements unless you have a waiver.

Some alternatives might be to go directly from LAX, for example TPE, HGH, or CTU for $500 to $600 on your dates (HGH and CTU require China visa) but only 14000 to 15000 miles. Or LAX-SFO-SIN-SFO-LAX for $702 on your dates, 17562 miles. This would eliminate your out of pocket cost.

Looking at it from a purely CPM perspective, without the credit, your 28,079 trip comes out to about 3.5 cpm, which is pretty good. It's a pretty brutal itinerary, but hey, no pain no gain, right? :P

Taking the travel credit into account, you will be getting 0.6 cpm.

Unless you can find a very good deal on higher fares that would allow you to fly less actual miles but get more PQMs thanks to the multipliers. Flying on Business/First would be more comfortable if you can get a good deal.

I'm looking to get some travel credits to do what you are doing and reach Gold sooner.

Hello, I would like to take a mileage run around March starting and ending in OKA. I am hoping to spend a day or 2 in TPE and a day or so in anywhere in CONUS . I see flights from TPE to US are pretty cheap... but from OKA to US are not, so am fine with connecting in TPE. Any help or advise would be appreciated. Cant find any good deals lately using google flights.

Are you able to book a separate round trip ticket from OKA to TPE? Plenty of low cost carriers flying non-stop on this route and shouldn't cost more than a couple hundred bucks; then, you can get on UA from TPE to US mainland.

Thank you!

I miss those discounted business fares where you didn't have to fly that much to get the 10k-15k miles Still trying to see if I can do the HKG trip. Just came back from there yesterday, on AA, business class and it was still a rough flight.

Ha! Yeah, I've been considering a long MR like this, but with only Silver all I can hope for is a decent E+ seat at check-in.

I'm 1K, but still, I doubt any good seats for that long flight in economy

Since you only need 5 segments on SAS, that's the easiest way to do this.

You could do 3 segments, CPH - ARN - TXL - CPH, for 143 € on a Thursday

https://www.google.com/flights/#sear...1678;a=SK;eo=e

And then a quick CPH - LHR - CPH the next Thursday for the last 2 segments at 115 €

https://www.google.com/flights/#sear...CPH0SK502;a=SK

That is assuming that SAS will count the first one 3 segments. If not, 3 roundtrips like the LHR one would take care of your segments easily and under budget.

Any other alternative to a ORD-HKG-ORD flight for 13,000 miles? Still trying to see if I can avoid that one leg 16 hr flight.
