Right. There has been a security guy at the door to the terminal lately asking if you are going on to BAH and directing people back to the cattle pen when you try to exit. If you tell him you want to go to the lounge, he just cautions you will have to go through security again and motions you through.

Just finished the second trip to BAH. We still had just as much fun as the first trip. F1 was testing at the Bahrain International Circuit so that was neat to watch.

Right after landing in Kuwait, the flight attendants mentioned for those continuing to BAH that it was OK to explore the airport but you have to go through security at the gate. The flight was parked at a different gate than when we went in Nov. Kuwait's airport is not too big so you should have some time to go to the lounge and also buy some trinkets. Also the fresh squeezed juices are great and the food is much better than the plane's food. The lounge lady did request my *G card and boarding ticket

On the return, we decided to take the flyDubai option with a 7 hour layover in Dubai then connecting to DBX-IAD on UA. This was an option purchased directly on UA's website. Because of bad luck (fog in the morning), our flyDubai was delayed for 5 hours so we spent 7 very boring hours in BAH airport and jet lagged. I tried to use the Dilmum Lounge with only my 1k card. Lounge lady asked for the boarding pass and was instantly denied because we were on flyDubai flight. I showed them the UA DBX-IAD ticket and she did not care. I knew from the beginning it was a long shot. Anyways because of the delay, we did not get to explore Dubai for the 4.5 hours. Very disappointed. I would highly not recommend flyDubai because its a low cost carrier and the worst seats I have ever sat in. No space at all. I am surprised UA used them to fly people from BAH-DBX. Today, I noticed that the flyDubai option is no longer available.

Bottom Line: Had a blast and buying our Feb 2015 tickets as soon as they become available.

I also was on a FlyDubai flight from Bah-DXB-Iad 2 weeks ago. UA had booked me that route as they don't fly to IAD on Mondays from BAH. The Dilum lounge attendant would not let me in because I was not flying out of BAH on United and did not care if I was a 1K. i did not have enough time to go in the lounge at DXB as it takes about one hour from the time you park on the tarmac to bus to terminal 2 and another bus to Terminal 3 for the United flight in Dubai. I only had about 40 minutes to take off from the time I got to the United gate in DXB.

For those not departing on *G, the BAH Dilmun lounge accepts the LoungeClub card that comes with many Chase credit cards and PriorityPass that often comes with Amex.

It seems to me that there are not many people going to Bahrain this month. I will arrive at Bahrain on March 15 (Sat) from IAD and return on March 16 (Sun). I will stay at Holiday Inn Express. Will anyone else have a similar itinerary so that we can share a taxi to hotel?

After we pulled up to the gate last night, they made the usual 'Welcome to Bahrain, thank you for flying with us, blah blah blah'.

And then:

"If you are returning tonight on BAH-KWI and on to IAD, you will need to go to the transfer desk to....."

Too funny. I guess they are well familiar with the mileage run crowd by now.

No, it wasn't us. We're going to spend a few days.

Gladly to be back to US. The IAD-BAH-IAD flights were very empty. If you want a row of bench seats for yourself, it is a good idea to select a seat at the rear of E+ cabin. Some clueless pax wants to be your company in your row. On the return segment, you should check the seatmap for the KWI-IAD segment, instead of BAH-IAD. The latter gives you wrong impression. One more thing, there is a currency exchange store hidden on your right hand side if you face the immigration line. The exchange rate was pretty good (~$2.8 for 1 dinar). Finally, the immigration official perhaps want you to state your purpose of the trip "for miles," instead of "for sightseeing" on your official document. Happy travel.

if this wiki is still being edited, i'll be in BAH nov 15-16 (2014), and likely rent a car and stay at the holiday in express. i'll also post in the BAH-DO thread (no wiki of who's going there).

i am planning on doing the turn around with no day in bahrain but is 1.30mins really enough time for a same day turn in bahrain airport?

1.30mins isn't enough, but 1.5 hours is...

Ask the gate staff in KWI to reprint your remaining boarding passes during your outbound stop there, so you won't have to stop at the transfer desk in BAH.

There's no gate lounge in BAH (unlike KWI), so you'll have to clear security at the BAH gate, but there should be plenty of time to do that unless you dawdle in the shops and/or lounge.
