It's dependent on your definition of 'booked on american'. If you're defining that as "purchased on aa.com" then that is different than the more common definition on FT of "booked with an aa flight number". So, the person saying that you get 100% RDM when booked on AA was meaning that you get 100 EQM when booked on AA flight numbers.

Exactly; "booked on" is ambiguous and should be avoided. And it is very important to understand that "purchased from" is completely irrelevant to the rules for earning miles (either kind) or EQD.
If I go to AA.com and purchase a ticket, for, say, "BA112", the "BA" earning rules apply.
