AA: SFO-PEK, $709, available in July

Includes 2 segments operated by JL - PEK-HND segment as a JL flight number and HND-SFO as AA #.

Seem to require 2 night duration (can have ~12 hrs in PEK).

Sample:
https://www.google.com/flights/#sear...=ONEWORLD;eo=e

Book with American
Marketed as AA 150, AA 187, JL 20, AA 8401

From https://www.aa.com/i18n/AAdvantage/e...ines/japan.jsp the PEK-HND should earn 30% RDM and 50% EQM.

tomasdev Jun 25, 2016 2:34 am

When booked on American it's 100% EQM and 100% RDM before August 1

That sample itinerary is more of a 12 hour stay in PEK than a 2 night stay.

This would require a visa for US citizens would it not?

No, a visa would not be required.

The sample itinerary includes US - PEK - Japan and would qualify for a TWOV.

Thank you. I got it for $656 rt from SJC. Itinerary: SJC-LAX-DFW-PEK-HND-LAX-SJC. Booked on AA. All travel on AA except the segment PEK-HND. One night stay in PEK. Depart SJC July2, 2016. Return from PEK departing July 5, 2016 and arrive SJC the evening of the same day.

You might want to double check your number of nights in PEK. I see no way to depart SJC Jul 2nd and travel on AA SJC-LAX-DFW-PEK where you could arrive earlier than on July 4th. If your return is July 5th, then that would make for 1 night in PEK not 2.

Does anyone see any other quick trips to Asia on AA for the last week in July? Really hoping for a last hurrah mileage run using SWUs.

Orion Jun 25, 2016 5:24 am

You are correct. I leave PEK on July 5 at 4:30 p.m., and arrive HND July 5, 9:05 p.m. I leave HND July 6, at 1 a.m., and arrive LAX on July 5, at 7:20 p.m. I arrive at SJC at 9:25 p.m., on July 5.

True, I've edited post to note min 2 night 'duration'

Yup, that was one reason I thought folks would like this one.

I've already hit EXP for year and the RDM value out of this one didn't work out for me but I figured I'd share it for those looking for flights prior to Aug 1 and the RDM changes.

My understanding...and what I've been told by customer support... is that despite the entire itinerary being booked on American, the segment coded with the partner airline would only receive the number of RDM's noted on the respective earnings chart--in this case, Q fare on the JAL-coded PEK-HND segment would earn 30% base miles.

Is this accurate... or is there a "work around" if the flight is on partner metal and code-shared with AA even though it has been booked under the partner flight number... or is this an example of a policy that, in practice, is rarely enforced?

If you get the JL flight with JL number (not an AA codeshare), you earn based on the JL flight chart.

And just to emphasize that, sirrebral, this is definitely an "always enforced" policy. The "workaround" is to buy it as an "AA" flight (your ticket has the "AA..." flight number), which may well cost more.
