I did some spreadsheet modeling on the purchase of $200 vs. $150 and found that $150 groupings produced a lower overall cost of purchase.

For example, let's say we make several purchases, $1,800 for ease of comparison since we can reach that number by buying a series of $100's or groups of $100+$50's:

Purchasing 18 x $100 AGCs would cost $17.10 in fees ($5.95 x 18 - ($10 x 9))

However, purchasing 12 x $100 + 12 x $50 AGCs only costs $10.80 in fees (($5.95 x 12 + $4.95 x 12) - ($10 x 12))

The key is that the $10 rebate can only be applied once per transaction, each transaction must be at least $150, and $200 AGCs are excluded.

In the end, it's only couple of dollars though so whatever works for you is great.
Yeah good luck liquidating those $50 AGC cards. At some point you also have to factor in the liquidation factor. IMO paying a little more to liquidate it easier is much more worth it than getting those few extra $.

I saw some time ago they had zero purchase fee on the Amex Serve promo in-store but do not remember the end date of that promo. After that is over, maybe we will get our deal back.

August, especially the first part, is a rather slow boring month for ms'rs in general with hardly any gift card deals. In fact, I don't recall any VGC deals from office stores for any August going years back. Time for us to enjoy summer.

$15 off $300 Mastercard GC offer at Office Max

I saw this offer on a sign at OM that started yesterday, August 2 till August 8. This is an INSTANT REBATE just like the Visa GC deal last May.

It's limit of one per HH but manager allowed me to do 3 separate transactions since I'm a regular customer. DH will buy his sets on his way home. Free URs using Ink plus some change

Too bad it's MC. They can be harder to liquidate. Anyone have trouble with MC lately loading into Red or at Kates? Heard of some reports that said they'd never buy MC again due to liquidation problems with Kate. Would these work to load Red?

So this new deal $15 off $300, is only at Office Max, not available at Office Depot, right?

I believe that they don't sell Mastercard gift cards at Office Depot.

This post today on the Frequent Miler blog says Office Depot doesn't sell mastercards:

http://frequentmiler.boardingarea.co...card-gc-aug15/

I've never seen a Mastercard at my local Office Depots, which is unfortunate because there are no Office Max stores in my market. Maybe only in certain cities OD carries them?

I was able to get $30 off a single $600 MGC purchase tonight (three $200 MGCs). Felt like living dangerously and attempted $900. Did not work. $30 of $600 is the register maximum at my store. The manager wouldn't let me do multiple transactions "in order to fight money laundering"...
