Taxis are absolutely not plentiful during peak periods which includes anytime it rains. And it rains a fair amount in Singapore. And a taxi on a Friday afternoon in the rain is simply impossible. That's why I said I only stay at the MO/RC when I don't plan on leaving the hotel. You are kind of stranded there. At least during peak periods.

Do you mean a limo or one of the larger luxury taxis?

IIRC there had been a separate (and much shorter) line for these at the airport. I think it's still a metered fare rather than a limo-style flat rate. IIRC there are signs about the system in the baggage claim area.

Don't forget about all of the post-midnight taxi surcharges.

They are equally scarce during peak periods.

Yes it is what westerners would call a large taxi, but they call limo. IME those are parked at the normal taxi points, and if you want one you can skip the queue.

I recently spent a week at the RC and never had a problem getting a taxi. And taxis are incredibly cheap.

Thanks, that's a good data point. Good to know, good to go. ^

There's a thread in the Singapore forum where Singapore residents can probably give better feedback. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/singa...singapore.html

That's absolutely true. Stayed at a good location and figure out how to use the subway or rent a car. Singapore is my home country but I regret to say that the public transport can do with some improvement.

Will be trying out MO Singapore club next week.

It's funny that my two preferred hotels are the IC and MO. The IC is near Raffles and the MO is next to the RC. I prefer to be at the IC as it is right in the middle of the action. But if I want to relax for a few days and not even leave the hotel I prefer the MO.
The RC and Raffles aren't that far apart are they, a few hundred metres?

It's fine but honestly I finally used the app GRAB when in Singapore. Uber wasn't responsive enough most of the time so I got tired of waiting.

What area is Raffles in? Is it more in the "thick of things" as far as walking around right out the hotel doors?

More like a couple blocks walk if you want to explore the Bugis area, which is my favorite area. It's extremely diverse and eclectic. The IC sits right in the middle. But if you walk the other direction from Raffles, it's a few blocks to the Quay area which has lots of nice bars and restaurants and more of a western flavor to it.

If you plug these hotels into Google maps you can see all this laid out well.
