To add from my upcoming Luxury Circle experience:

Luxury Circle is a separate rate, not additional perks you get to add to any rate available. You have to specifically get the Luxury Circle rate which usually is the same price as the Best Available Rate but with the added perks. So if there is some nice package/rate you can not combine it with Luxury Circle.

But... most Luxury Circle benefits aside from the $100 / 10% Credit are Jade Membership perks which you get for a year by doing 1 Luxury Circle rate stay.

Starting from today, for Luxury Circle bookings, Shangri-La has removed the Golden Circle Jade tier upgrade benefit and also reduced the dining credit from USD 100 to USD 50 at a number of properties in China, Indonesia and Malaysia. I've summarised the changes in the Shangri-La Golden Circle main thread.

The reason for this change, btw, is that news of Golden Circle has hit a FlyerTalk equivalent in China ... and Luxury Circle agencies have been flooded with requests from prospective clients from China for one-night bookings. From the clients' perspective, an inexpensive room night (a bit more than $100) with a $100 credit, breakfast for two, and Jade tier status — was too good to be true. From Shangri-La's perspective, it made no sense for the non-luxury members of the SG chain. And from a travel advisor's perspective, filling up your day with dozens of $100 bookings also makes no sense.

I'm so glad they are including a note from the General Manager. What a difference that will make in my stay! (Heavey sarcasm).

One of the best perks in my opinion (as an agent who's a part of the Luxury Circle) is that my clients get a guaranteed upgrade at time of booking (rather than subject to availability).

The Jade Benefit was awesome as you keep that for an entire year and GC points of Jade is equivalent to a 15% cash back
guess they had to stop it once too many took advantage

So its now the equivalent of a regular rate with perks & room upgrade which is pretty good more comparable with other Preferred Partner programs

For everyone's information, the upgrade-at-booking is limited to specific room categories at each hotel, so you can't necessarily count on the exact upgrade you want. Unfortunately, that information is kept on a password-protected website, so you'll have to consult a Luxury Circle-affiliated TA.

In general (quoting from that website):
*Upgrades do not apply to: room category one level below club level to club level, suite/villa bookings and family rooms.
Notably, at SG Paris, you cannot upgrade *into* an Eiffel Tower view room.

Fair enough, best to find out the specific upgrade through your TA always

Is this benefit still available - Upgrade to Jade for properties in Canada? Can you do an FHR booking or Virtuosso booking for Vancouver and get the Jade upgrade?

Just finished up a Luxury Circle stay at the Valley Wing in Singapore. I'll post a review soon, but there were only a few minor hiccups with the benefits. Nothing surprising with a new program.

I'll post back here if/when I get the Jade upgrade.
