I copy-pasted directly from the SG Luxury Circle website... this is the [only] upgrade they list.

Thanks for your help, I appreciate it I will have to compare the LC option with the publicly available rates on S-L's website. In some cases at inexpensive properties like these, the math pencils out in favor of foregoing benefits and just going with lowest available room only rate (including prepaid).

Sorry if this has been asked/posted, but what's the number to call to book the Luxury Circle rate? Just the regular reservation number?

It is not bookable directly with the hotel. You need to go through a travel agent who is part of the Luxury Circle program

Query for TA

Hi everyone, going to be in Dalian in July and was considering the Shangri-La Dalian. The reviews for the property are great and even though I have Hilton Hhonors Diamond status and there is a new Conrad nearby, I was considering booking a horizon club room at this property due to the rave reviews for it. Does anyone know what the standard luxury circle upgrade is here and would potentially be able to help me with the booking (and perhaps others going forward)?

A note about Shangri-la Mactan, they usually have good rates with food and promotions year round so TLC might not always be the best rate. They also have upgrades at booking that they offer since they have so many rooms. Usually Main Wing Rooms are lower priced and nicer than Ocean Wing rooms since they were renovated.

I used to love Shangri La but they have really gone backwards.

Some of their Asian properties are amazing (like Rasa Sayang in Penang and the Boracay resort) but too many are of old design and do not hold a candle to the likes of Intercontinental and Mandarin Oriental.

Is this still the case? Any upgrades to Suite or from Suite to better Suite?

This is still the case... These are the only confirmed-at-booking upgrades.

It's possible to for other upgrades to happen if available upon arrival ... but generally most properties extend room-to-room or suite-to-suite upgrades. While room-to-suite upgrades do occasionally happen, these are much rarer. If you are known by the hotel as a frequent guest, or if your travel advisor is known by their sales team as someone who sells that hotel a lot, your chances will be enhanced. However, it's likely that no one books Shangri-La Mactan Resort on a regular basis.
