The answer to this question is "no." You need to book the Shangri-La Luxury Circle rate code, which is a different rate code from Virtuoso or FHR.

Looking forward .
Hope renovations at Tower Wing have been completed or close - if not real soon

Then Brief Makati SLA stay next week

They don't upgrade your Golden Circle status anymore..... but the room upgrade is still at time of booking so best to always secure with Luxury Circle and not another program

I have two questions re S-L Luxury Circle:

1) Do all Shangri-La properties participate?

2) Do Luxury Circle bookings need to be made under a specific type of rate? Or, can any rate on Shangri-la's website, such as prepid rates or rates that include value added benefits, be booked through Luxury Circle and receive the associated perks?

My status updated a few days after the stay. I posted my review awhile back.

question 2 is very easy to answer - there's a specific Luxury Circle rate code that needs to be booked, usually the best available flexible rate

question 1 is more complex, as details are being worked out. Originally the program applied to all hotels, but SG soon discovered that it did not make sense at their inexpensive properties, so there are modifications to the program for the cheap rooms. (Doesn't make sense for the hotel to give breakfast and a $100 credit for a ~$100 hotel room)

To be more specific MikefromTokyo all Shangri-la & Kerry Hotels are part of the program.

It isn't the cheap rooms in a property per se, it is hotels in markets where rate points are inherently lower. So mainly in mainland China, Malaysia & Indonesia. Unless you book something over 500USD a night as they have a 10% threshold for the hotel credit. Post 319 by paul00 in THIS THREAD has a full list with reduced hotel credits under this program

Thanks ABG and DavidO, I appreciate the information. I will keep S-L Luxury Circle in mind for future bookings.

I have one more question re upgrades. Will S-L LC one category upgrades apply if upgrade is from standard to Horizon Club level, or from top room to entry level suite?

There is a pattern to follow at each property......they all have different parameters.

Thanks. That makes sense, as that seems to be the case with all hotels.

A property I am looking at is the Sule Shangri-la in Yangon, Myanmar. It seems to be more of a four star property, and has very few categories of rooms and suites.

It looks like the only possible upgrades are Deluxe (base) > Horizon Club (same room on high floor with club access). Or club > deluxe suite, etc...

Would anyone happen to know the upgrade policy and amenities for this specific property?

Also, OT, but is the Stand a better option than S-L?

For this hotel:

Book: Horizon Club room; Upgrade to: Executive Suite

Hotel credit of USD 100 per stay, per room

(I assume the breakfast + free WiFi applies too but would have to research).

At Shangri-la at the Fort, Manila you only have Deluxe rooms and a few suites so they just gave me the cheaper room rate and upgraded me to the room with the better view.

Best to call and ask or go through your TA

What about an upgrade from Deluxe Room (base category) to Horizon Club room?
