This seems to be quite an old thread, so I wonder whether things have changed lately. I am contemplating a connection through VIE in the summer, OS to OS, both on Tyrolean. Would 1 hour and 5 minutes pose no problems?
Thank you.
Thank you.

Should not at all be an issue. Austrian Airlines really has their operation together. Back in December I flew BKK-VIE-JFK on EVA, connecting to Austrian. Our flight from BKK was late and I only had about 30 min. People continuing onto ORD, and IAD only had 15 and 20 minutes. Austrian knew about the situation; they had an agent meet the flight, take all of us with tight connections and show each of us to our gate and informed the gate agents of the situation. I was flying J, but the other passengers connecting were in Y. Everyone made their connection thanks to the Austrian agent meeting the flight. I was really impressed at their organization and attention to details to say the least.

Ease of Transfer Questions: OS Non-Schengen to A3 Schengen?
My uncle (who is not an experienced flyer, and only speaks Greek) is flying ORD-VIE-ATH with a 2 hr layover. ORD-VIE on OS, then VIE-ATH on Aegean (A3) out of the C Gates.
I've coached him on how to get through airports before (he's navigated both MUC with my help, but that is an easy airport for transfers). How difficult is it to manage getting out of the Skylink Terminal and over to C? I saw a few images of the new terminal that seemed to show good terminal signage; is getting to C clearly marked? Any tips for an easy transfer from non-schengen Skylink to C Gates? Would be great to get a better sense for his transfer process.
1) As far as I can tell, the OS ORD-VIE flight oftentimes lands at the G11/F11 bridge. When he disembarks the plane, is he automatically on Level 2: Arrivals? Does he immediately go through passport control, before he can reach the transit desk on Level 3 to (possibly) get an A3 boarding pass? Is it even advised to try to get to Level 1 (F) or Level 3 (G), or to just get through passport control and get out of the F/G pier?
2) I can't seem to find an airside connection to the C Gates on the map. It appears to me that he will need to exit the Skylink Pier into Check-in 3 and find his way to the automated boarding pass control counter for BCD at the far side of Check-in 3. Does this counter have a number (1 or 2)?
3) Once he's into the BCD duty-free plaza area, can he at anytime access the C gates, or must he wait for his flight to have at least a "gate open" or "go to gate" status indicator?
4) To enter the C gate concourse, is there an additional boarding pass control counter, or just the security check at the actual gate itself? Aegean's flight to ATH often leaves from C37 and C39
Any advice will help calm him. He was supposed to travel back with a relative, but due to a family emergency, my Uncle needed to move his flight up and is leaving on Sunday. He's nervous about his trip and what awaits him at home.

Hi Flying V,
I would say Vienna (due to soze) is an eas airport to transfer. H
Your uncle will disembark to non-Schengen G gates and will dfllow signs to 'B, C, D Gates'. I recommend to go to D Terminal. There he can leave the non- Schengen area, go through passport control and exit into airside B, C. This way he will avoid having to go landside. There is a dedicated non-Schengen transfer corridor.
However, there will be another security control in C upon entering the terminal ( don't know if you yourself have passed throug VIE - some time ago they rebuilt the C terminal and removed security at each gate in favor of a central security check). He can enter the terminal at any time and wait i. Front of the gate area (bars, restaurant) or use a lpunge if he is entitled to.
Hope this helps.
David

70min enough 4 connection flight at VIE?
Dear Experts
Just wanted to ask if a connection of around 70minutes is enough?
Th Pax are arriving on a flight from CPH and connecting for a flight to KSC? Is it far to walk between the gates, my 95 year old granny will be traveling with my mom.
Thanks

Minimum Connecticut Time in VIE is 25min, so there should be no issue. KSC typically is on a Bus Gate, and given your grandma is 95 you may want to Order Wheel chair Service if she is not fit enough to walk between Gates and a flight of Stars?

Tyrolean is Austrian, so quality in general is quite good. However, VIE-KSC is probably operated by a Dash Q8 - which is not the most silent ride.
Since July 2012 all Austrian flights are operated by Tyrolean. Previously it was a daughter company operating short haul flights only but due to a restructuring programme in Austrian (and lower personnel cost at Tyrolean) all flight operations have been moved to Tyrolean.
