If and when a particular strike begins and flights are actually beginning to be cancelled, you can call LH and ask for a rebooking/rerouting.
LH usually rebooks to other LH Group carriers, any star alliance carrier or other IATA airline it has an interline agreement with. The preference to do so is in the same order and done only if the preferred alternative doesn't have any free seats in the class of service (not booking class). Award bookings are treated the same way, although you may be requested to contact the issuing carrier for reissuing the ticket. LH issued tickets are usually reissued using the ATC irreg system.

Against the background of the announced strike by the Independent Flight Attendant’s Organization (UFO) on Lufthansa flights on Thursday 26th of November, Friday, 27th of November and Monday, 30 of November 2015, Lufthansa is trying to keep the effect of the strike on its customers as low as possible.

Lufthansa returns to almost normal operations from Saturday onwards

After the end of the longest strike in the company’s history, Lufthansa will already return to almost normal operations on Saturday and will offer its customers the usual service as soon as possible.
All scheduled long-haul connections will be able to operate on Saturday. Furthermore the long-haul connections from Frankfurt to Hong Kong, Singapore, Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paolo, which were scheduled to take off on late Friday evening, will be delayed to Saturday morning. Thus a cancellation of these connections can be avoided.
Lufthansa will also return to almost normal operations on short- and medium-haul flights on Saturday. Due to operational reasons, there can be occasional flight cancellations, if the aircraft or crews are not yet at the site of operation.
Lufthansa would like to sincerely apologize again to all customers, who have been affected by the strike of the Independent Flight Attendant’s Union (UFO) during the past days. The company has done its utmost to keep the effects on their customers as low as possible.
Altogether the company was forced to cancel approximately 4,700 flights during seven strike days. Affected by these cancellations were approximately 550,000 passengers.

Due to the strike actions Lufthansa has to cancel 126 long-haul and 10 continental connections resulting in about 27.300 passengers being affected by flight cancelations. Nearly all German and European continental flights will be operated as scheduled.

The Independent Flight Attendant’s Organization (UFO) has announced strike action for all Lufthansa flights from/ to Frankfurt and Dusseldorf on Friday, 6.11.2015 between 14.00 and 23.00 and Saturday, 7.11.2015 between 6.00 and 23.00 for all flights from/to Dusseldorf and for all flights operated with A319, A320, A321 and B737 from/to Frankfurt.
All intercontinental flights on 7.11.2015 will operate as scheduled.
Flights to and from Munich are not affected by the strike.

LH usually rebooks to other LH Group carriers, any star alliance carrier or other IATA airline it has an interline agreement with. The preference to do so is in the same order and done only if the preferred alternative doesn't have any free seats in the class of service (not booking class). Award bookings are treated the same way, although you may be requested to contact the issuing carrier for reissuing the ticket. LH issued tickets are usually reissued using the ATC irreg system.

Calling LH usually will not produce results, not even for LH stock tickets in the vicinity of a strike. At least that is my experience.

Anyone care to speculate about the chances that strike action would occur on a Sunday? I've got flights from Italy to Germany, and within Germany, booked on July 5.
My recollection is that most European transport strikes occur on weekdays, but I could well be misremembering.

Oh, come on, give them a break. This is a (potential) cabin crew strike, which has *nothing* to do with previous (pilot/ground personnel/handler/security/Eurocontrol*) strikes.

The typical pattern is first to hold a few small "warning strikes" to show they are serious, and then if negotiations don't make progress, they widen out gradually to more general strikes.
At first, the union will often also announce when and where the strike will be at least a day in advance, and LH is pretty good about re-booking/re-routing you (in my experience). I got hit three times last year and only one major disruption. Still rather irritating. I had to reschedule plans with customers who were fortunately flexible.
Between management decisions and employee job actions, LH sure seems to be encouraging their customers to check out the competition.

Hi Guys i think im the first victim of the Lufthansa flight attendant strike, my flight from PVG to FRA LH729 on the 29 of June has been canceled, i asked them what the problem was and they didn't tell me, so i think it is because of the strike ... they rescheduled my flight PVG SIN FRA, im losing a night I had booked and paid for in Hilton Hotel that cannot be cancelled. So i don't know what I should do about that night, do you think I can ask Lufthansa for a refund?

How does mileage credit work in the case one gets rebooked by TA on non-*A metal during industrial action? Does a usual retroclaim for miles as per original routing work without problems?
