UFO (flight attendants) strike(s) 2015
Beware to anyone having a booking (or being planing to book with LH):
In addition to the (still) looming danger of any pilot strike, it seems quite certain that there will be a flight attendant strike as early as this summer http://www.spiegel.de/wirtschaft/unt...a-1037894.html http://www.handelsblatt.com/unterneh.../11890424.html (No English source yet) According to German Boulevard magazine SPON, they're in the "absolute" last round of talks till the 20th June, but it doesn't look like an agreement will be found, with strikes to follow "in summer". There is no better way to strike :D |

LH: nonstop strike. Have a couple of 4U and LH shorthauls and 1 longhaul on LH to LAX scheduled in July. Rest on LX. Oh well.. |

I wouldn't be worried too much.
Based on past expeierence, LH will rebook on other carriers. |

I just heard on ZDF that there's again a risk of new strikes in the coming weeks :td:
(details haven't been communicated yet) |

Thats the cabin crew, not pilots. :D
Details have just been released: if no deal is reached by Jul 1, strikes will start again. http://de.reuters.com/article/compan...0P20SW20150622 |
Watch out for July 1st.
Now may be the cabin crew's turn: http://www.reuters.com/article/2015/...0P20YG20150622 |
Another 30.000 HON miles compensation coming up in December I guess!

I am flying AMS-MUC-GRU on 30 June. If the strike takes place, is the GRU flight likely to be cancelled given that it arrives on 1 July? I've been searching the discussion of last year's strikes trying to find a mention of similar cases in the past but no luck so far.

How does this work in practice? I'm booked on a FRA-LAX in July and definitely don't want to be rebooked on UA. Can you refuse a rebooking and insist on a particular carrier? (LX in this case)
If you've booked via travel agent, your agent will be authorised to rebook within certain boundries. You can discuss with the TA which options you have. (By the way, the UA longhaul C product isn't too bad and you can always retro claim the original routing miles with LH later) |
