- One plane has the new seat. Nearly half the 744 fleet will be sent to the desert. The rest will be upgraded to a Y, Y+ and C configuration.
Wiki:
FRA (1|17): D-ABVW
Only 13 (D-ABVW/VX/VZ/VR/VM/VY/VP/VU/VS/TK/VT/TL/VO) will get new C, remaining ones will be retired

The wiki seems to imply that 4 will be retired and 13 will be left with the new C? ... or are there more than that to be retired?

When this thread was started, LH still had about 28 744s. Since January 2012 LH has stored/scrapped 13 744s and 4 more will follow by the end of this year as the remaining 748s come in in H1/2015. Which leaves 13 744s.

I have a bit of a mystery that I am hoping someone can clear up. We are booked to fly LH408 from DUS to EWR in June. According to the WIKI, both of the A343s out of DUS have new business class, however, when I check the LH website, it shows new business class throughout March, however, old business class starting in April. It also shows the flight time as 25 minutes shorter in April than in March. Is this an aircraft change, even though it shows that it is still an A343?

At risk of asking a question to which there is no answer, is there any indication when the 4 A346s at FRA will get a retrofit or will they be replaced by something else?

They only seem to fly to BOG, JFK, IKA, PHL and DTW

I'm on LH426 FRA-PHL in July and it is currently showing A346. How likely would my aircraft change to a A343?
I've looked on FlightAware and the past 2 weeks they have been flying A343 on that route except for few days with A346. Hopefully, I get the new business class in July?

I am sure there are a lot of experts here and can explain the following:New business class was announced in 2012 - today they have not changed all! At the same time they plan now to change 12 744 with new business class within months! In my view they have slow down the convertion in the past as also other airlines (ie. KLM) are converting much faster. In addition I wonder if they announce a new seat just after they have implemented the last one of the current series.

The reason the retrofit takes so long is that its not just swapping out seats (which goes relatively quick, see premium eco retrofit), but also ding a tip to toe revamp of the entire cabin which involves for example redoing the floor boards, a new IFE system, a new galley layout, a new PRM lavatory and removing quite a bit of equipment in the lower deck of the 346. The idea is not to touch the aircraft again for the remainder of their 8-10 year life.

Hm, FR24 again showes KA as being in QGP instead of SIN. Are there SIAEC facililties at QGP? The only MRO company located at QGP seems to be ST Aerospace.

I am checking on MIA-FRA for April last week, and the seatmap for the A-380 shows that in the upper deck the business class ends at row 24 and is followed by 3 rows of Premium Economy.

Is this a newer reconfigured version?
Any opinions on the business class seats on this version (I assume they are the newer, full-flat version)? How are rows 23-24 -- are they OK, good, or bad

Thanks in advance for the reply.

D-AIMA (388) arrived in HAM. Only one 388 (MH) left without new C.
