Crowne Plaza Lima - Peru

What is your IHG Rewards Club status?

Platinum Royal Ambassador

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes, absolutely

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked cheapest advance rate and received an Executive room on high floor.
During my stay, I was proposed to get a suite as it was now free, but I declined it as my room was perfectly fine.

How are the rooms?

Around 40 sqm
Recently renovated in a clean corporate design (furniture could have been more creative).
See picture: https://twitter.com/nicolas75flyert/...85972426010626
Very comfortable bed
Bathroom with bathtub and separate walk-in shower (water pressure in the shower was poor and it was difficult to get the right temperature of the water). Temple Spa amenities
Flat screen television with massive choice of US and international cable channels (you can switch most channels from Spanish to English language), but no HBO or French television channels.
iPhone dock
Coffee machine
Efficient but noisy air conditioning
View over the city (and partial view of the ocean)
Very quiet

How is the exec. lounge?
N/A

What was good

- Great location in one of the most pleasant district of the city, close to the sea, trendy restaurants. Exceptional restaurants such as Maido, Central or Amaz are less then 10 minutes walk from the hotel
- Very attentive and smiling staff
- Breakfast was offered to Platinum members (large choice of hot and cold options, desserts and hot plate changing every day, very efficient and friendly staff)
- 4pm check out was offered to Platinum members
- Fast wifi
- Pleasant fitness centre with sauna and (tiny) indoor pool
- Limousine service to the airport at decent price

What was bad?
Nothing indeed

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Yes
The hotel is not cheap but very pleasant for location and quality of service

Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked a Standard room on points, plus paid for Club (THB1000++ per day). Upgraded to Executive Club room

How are the rooms?
Good size, with large desk and armchair/footrest. Very comfortable, firm bed. Some noise from outside, to be expected in BKK

How is the exec. lounge?
Lounge is just about big enough when hotel is full (Christmas/New Year). At breakfast a reasonable spread and hot food by order. Staff struggled to keep up with demand, so there were times when we had to wait for juice, cereal to be replenished. Not a big issue though.

What was good and what was bad?
Good: Location and service level. Charm Thai restaurant is very good. Cafe G buffet can be a bit of a zoo.
Bad : Nothing really, if you don't expect IC service at an HI

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Yes, if I didn't have enough points for the IC. But 12 nights for THB 12,000++ is definitely worth it!
Did you discuss regarding upgrade to Club prior to checkin or negotiate at the time of check in?

I emailed prior to arrival. We were there for 12 days on points, so I was happy to pay for Club to give us breakfast, cocktails etc. The Executive room upgrade appeared on the booking record at the same time as the Club update. Great service. Really like the hotel (although would always book the IC if I had enough points (I'm RA).

Intercontinental Dubai Festival City

Intercontinental Dubai Festival City

What is your Priority Club status?
Platinum

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked Deluxe (2 Twins), received Executive Creek View (2 Twins)

How are the rooms?
Beautiful view of Dubai from the room, very well maintained.

How is the exec. lounge?
N/A. Did not book access.

What was good and what was bad?
Room was in excellent condition, service was also great. Received late check out. Has a unique pool that is cool to check out. Not really anything that was bad... maybe the doormen didn't open the doors for you all the time? Location is a bit out of the city, but given the cheap taxi fares, this wasn't a problem, and also allowed for the great skyline view from the room. It's connected to the Festival City Mall, which is currently undergoing renovation, so food options were relatively scarce in the area.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Great value if using certificates, kind of expensive on points of $. Would consider returning depending on price. Overall much better than many other ICs.

Holiday Inn - Southend-on-Sea

What is your IHG Rewards Club status?

o Given - Corner Exec Room on 3rd Floor (non airport side) , upgraded online with 12hours.

How are the rooms?

o Kind of pseudo hallway into room due to rooms position in building
o End of hallway Fridge for use (empty) can be stocked as a minibar on request + Work desk and Chair . Entry to rooms main part
o Bathroom with Bath and decent towels
o King bed with usual HI pillow choice, plenty of lighting to read in bed

+ Ordered food, Steak+Ale pie, mash+veg... home made with double the meat I expected, really nice and great value.

o Neutral
- I thought checkout would be quick, no queue, completed in 2mins, but then told I would need to wait further for bill printout, Gave up and walked after further 5mins without bill as had plane to AMS in 50minutes, no other guests around, no explanation on delay either.

o Bad
- Nothing

Value for $ or IHG Rewards Club Points? Would you return?
Only 15k/night so versus circa 70-80gbp/night points do make sense based on P+C Rates

Paid stay as need for 1Q2015 promo and my needed RA renewal nights

A YES, both on hotel stay and convenience for early flight to AMS with no need to be at checkin more than 45mins before flight here.

ps
Reception guy even spoke with restaurant and organized my food charged as restaurant (not room) as I need spend $$$ on 1Q2015 tasks (that task excludes things like in room dining $$$'s).

CP Hong Kong Kowloon East

CP Hong Kong TKO

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?

Yes, as usual

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked cheapest rate and got a corner room

How are the rooms?
Corner rooms are my preferred rooms at this hotel. Junior suite style rooms with great views over TKO and the hills; comfortable bed with a view.
Spacious bathroom and walk-in closet

What was good and what was bad?
Good

- Recognized after entering the hotel as repeat guest by name (!), despite arriving "randomly" by taxi, whisked past the lines at check-in and given a room key. Wow.
- Recognized at breakfast (no need to sign the check), unbelievable for a CP.
- Great room upgrade
- Top-floor restaurant's terrace is magnificent with immaculate service
- Location is just right for what I'm in the city for
- Full second service, much appreciated
- Free breakfast (which I don't care too much about, but many others apparently do )

Bad
- Nothing

Value for HKD or IHG Rewards Club Points? Would you return?

Excellent value. One among a handful of hotels I return without hesitating or considering other options - my place to go in HK.

10 000 points a night or 5000 + $40 the hotel is definitely cheap. Its counterpart however for double the points may be better suited for those wanting more luxury

What is your IHG Rewards Club status?
Platinum (RA)

Were you happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked:- Base Room
Received:- Queen Studio Suite
(room modifies post 48hour each time after booking here )

How are the rooms?
Still looking quite new as open just over a year
Comfortable King Bed, Bathroom here is large Shower cubicle only (unless full suite).
Largish armchair end of bed to watch 40inch tv, which is a long way off if in bed (10m is too far really). I wish they would use small 2-str sofa not armchair which I move nearer the TV.
Usual Kitchen area, fridge, combi-microwave, hobs, dishwasher, cooking/eating utensils, even washing up liquid.

Shared Area(s)
o Breakfast functional area, hot food is Baked Beans Bacon and alternating days, scambled eggs or omelets. Usual bread/toasters etc and coffee machines are left on all day.
o Lounge area with chairs, tables and a separate private room plus 2x computers for use.
o Laundry facilities
o Gym (7 modern exercise machines ) so OK
o Reception and small selection f food items

What was your welcome gift?
Points Voucher (No bar here)

How is the exec. lounge?
n/a

What was good and what was bad?
Good
+ Platinum Recognition, meaningful room upgrade and late checkout
+ Friendly helpful reception staff
+ Smack in the Central City Centre shopping area location so everything on your doorstep. But not noisy at all.
+ 10min walk from Train station
+ Rooms still in excellent condition
+ Nice kitchen area in rooms
+ Just one speed internet (no rubbishy free low, high for fee split)
Bad
- Nothing

Value for $? Would you return?
Yes, I had prebooked 8weeks out at £59++ Company Flex rate and could not be bothered to cancel/rebook in the final 48hour sale at £49++ .
Excellent value for location, room size, and early my booking as rate can later be double this.

What is your IHG Rewards Club status?
Platinum (RA)

Were you happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes, once again (maybe a year since last visit)

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked:- Base Room
Received:- Club Room
(on 11th top floor, 11th Lounge Floor, Club rooms are 10th-11th floors)

How are the rooms?
o Comfy King Bed with usual pillows, Small Chair+Footstool
o 40" tv with good UK channels including skysports1/2/3/4
o Found lighting dim, as now using those horrid curly bulbs not low voltage spots.
o Bathroom , Bath + Shower in bath. Decent bath towels (size/thickness)
o Minibars now empty (to many cheapskate guests replacing bottled beer with water apparently) 2x free waters so this you can use for own stuff now
o Rooms now on WiFi (used to be cable only before free wifi) has free low speed, but premium rate you pay for.
Lounge internet is via conference selection so premium speed. Very useful if ones room is near enough Lounge (on either floor 10/11) to connect to Lounges router

What was your welcome gift?
Points Voucher or Drink (as lounge access took voucher)

How is the exec. lounge?
o Large enough, two desktop computers and a printer
o Coffee machine takes those circular capsules
o 2hour drinks period each evening, several wines and beers
o Minimal Continental breakfast no hot food unless you count Toast + Coffee
Croisants, Bread, Ham, Salami, Cheese
(Restaurant breakfast is £15 or £12 if booked night before at reception, Club Access does not give you Restaurant b/f)

What was good and what was bad?
Good
+ Platinum Recognition, meaningful room upgrade and late checkout
+ Friendly helpful reception staff
+ short walk 200m to Broad Street with many food options, bars and clubs for nightlife
+ Good value breakfast in restaurant
+ Nice ground floor , rest area, bar and restaurant although ate out this visit
Neutral
-Location can mean too many hen/stag/party night guests stay here sometimes on weekends
- Fair walk to central city centre shopping area
- Hotel upgrade policy is only upgrade bookings 7am on morning of arrival. Platinums will always get club-room upgrade if available, but if not given club room, you won't get Lounge access. On my flex rate I like to know this the day before at least , as I have other options in Birminhgam.
Bad
- Nothing

Value for $? Would you return?
Yes. Booked 8weeks out on company flex so great early rate.
CP often be sold out on a Fri/Sat night which is why I book ahead, or if not full, can be double rate for booking close to arrival or even more if only club rooms left
