Well no harm in politely ''pushing'' them a little on this one.

I would tell them that you appreciated their efforts to offer suitable alternative accommodation but you were very disappointed when you read the less than glowing reviews of that particular property. Perhaps add a link to some of those reviews. Finally ask them if it would be possible for them to offer anything else in the area that would be more suitable to you /and your partner or family.

It may well not come to anything but sometimes a polite contact expressing your disappointment does produce a happy ending.

4 * Hotel Paris Neuilly from Ł38/Ł44 single/double. Breakfast optional at Ł6.50 pp (half price). Reasonable to good reports on TA. Recently refurbished and near metro.

Seems this is a genuine 50% sale that offers a little extra...that is it offers nearer 80% on their published rates.

Available in May'15 for about the first 3 weeks.

Book on hotels website. Care-non refundable!

Lindeth Howe Country House, Lake Windermere ,England.

A lovely part of England if I dare say so myself!

The classic single (which I believe is a double with single occ) looks too cheap for this recently renovated Lake District hotel. Available for one room only I'm afraid on many dates in 2015 and on into 2016.

From Ł38 depending on date it's prepaid and non refundable .

Book on laterooms. I believe this hotel is ranked as a 4* despite L/Rooms 3* ranking. 4.5 on TA ^

3* Hotel Siru, Brussels seems to be available on certain weeks at around Ł9 single occ double with bft. I've not fully checked the whole year but can see it available on selected weekly bookings in August ,October and November. You have to make a weekly booking to get the best rate I believe.

The good things first...1)...it's in a good location....2)..it's in a good location...or have I already mentioned that?

Scores 3/5 on TA and looks quite average with small rooms. However for those on a budget it might be of interest particularly as the breakfast which one TA reviewer said was priced at 15 Euro's is included.

You have to pay a city tax on arrival which brings the total daily rate to Ł13 which interestingly enough is not much more than the cost of the breakfast. Maybe it's a buy the breakfast get a free room promotion, who knows?

Its fully refundable. Book on Orbitz, Ebookers and other sister sites.

Currently staying at the Clarion Stockholm. The weather is a little bit chilly but the welcome could not have been warmer. " That was a great rate you got there sir..well done!" was the response I got from reception on checking in...now that's a classy hotel any day of the week in my books.

Thank you Clarion Stockholm and thank you OP ...whoever you are!

This charming looking place in Bruges is $10 incl taxes and breakfast but only for single occupation* and only on Thursdays in November. Should be $100 per night

*Do you say that in English? I mean habitación doble o twin, ocupación sencilla. i.e. one person in a twin or double room
