5 minutes is only the time the water in the shower will run for.

You are allocated a 30 minute slot in the facility, so not much chance of everone getting the use of it on a full flight.

Tons of short 3 cabin flights in the Gulf......Besides EK, QR, etc there are such flights as LX (DXB-MCT), etc.

As EK takes deliveries of more and more 380's (will have a fleet of over 100 of these aircraft I have no doubt we will start seeing more intra Gulf 380 flights as well as onward segments (right now EK flys SYD-AKL, BKK-HKG & GIG-EZE) and i would bet we will start seeing more flights such as BKK-SGN, etc

Today Emirates launched the world's shortest A380 service. The flight between Dubai and Kuwait is only 1 hour and 45 min long.

Uggghhhh. This flight is very short. They won't give you a beverage or meal. Due to short flight. You have to buy a beverage or snacks at the retail store in the entire concourse.

Would you prefer they circled for a bit so you have time for a meal?

LH manages to serve me a meal on a 52 minute flight - on both mainline and regional jets.

Slightly less customers than on an A380.

I think TG manage to have meal service on a 60 minute domestic flight on a 747-400...well, it is a snack box in Y and something on a tray in J, but still, it is possible! Probably helps that no alcohol is served domestically on TG though.

Flying KWI-DXB last month, the load was 11/12 in F, and they managed a full meal service. Those two guys worked hard though!

I would be interested in the economics behind flying an A380 on this flight. I would have though intra-Gulf flights would be more akin to the commuter/'puddle-hoppers' in the Northeast US, or even Chicago-New York, which has dozens of flights a day (DXB-KWI has six including the A380), but, as far as I know, all of them are smaller jets with at most ~150 passengers (e.g. Southwest 737s).

xobile - I think this is mainly a way to fill the gaps in the A380 schedule, when the 380s would otherwise just be at the tarmac at DXB.

But do such large planes make enough money to justify them being used on such short routes? What are the loads like? If only half-ish of the plane is full, that's quite a bit of fuel to carry the frame with not very many people.

I just saw an small clip (Behind the cameras) of their inaugural flight to KWI, even do that as I said I know they used the 380 to KWI a couple of times back during the 50 aniversary of the Liberation or any kuwaiti celebration.

As per the Video the said is the shortest 380 flight and I guess they will booked as a record (Guiness???).
