Ah, that hit the spot.
The Laphroaig 18 is way way overpriced IMO. It's about what I used to pay for the 30 yr. Bowmore 18 and Caol Ila 18 are still fairly reasonable. Love the Ardbeg Corryvrecken 17. wj

Well, it is twice what I used to pay for 18 yr old Macallen too. But now that is - more.

Haven't opened my Laphroaig 10 or 18 yet, but I've been enjoying the heck out of my Ardbeg 10...so much that I've been considering breaking open the Uigeadail too.

If you've never tried a Springbank offering, I highly recommend it.
A few weeks back I tried Springbank (10yo I believe) for the first time and I really enjoyed it. I just ordered a couple bottles of their 12yo CS at 112 proof which I'm really looking forward to.

Buy yourself a bottle of their 18 on your birthday. If there's anything better, I haven't tasted it - wait, actually I have - Springbank 21 (haven't seen that around for 10 yrs though) ! wj

A recent good evening I had. That decanter contains the first ever 18 year old scotch I've had the pleasure of drinking. I believe it was Glenmorangie. Definitely a difference from my usual Glenlivet 12!

Thanks...does it matter much which bottling? Some reviews seem to indicate that the current version is not quite as good as the previous. Do they release a new batch each year?

Sorry, don't know. There are some negotiants w/Springbank bottlings as well. I have a couple bottles at my bar, but I haven't tasted it in at least a year. I will tonight. More tomorrow. wj

You need some proper Scotch Whisky glasses.

The 21 yr old Springbank is wonderful. I think they also make something called the Chieftain which is a 25 or 30 year old.

I bet the 21yo is fantastic. But I don't think they even make that now, and a bottle is $$$$.

The 18 still rocks. Had a little bit earlier. Maybe not as full as usual, but fabulous lingering finish. Hard to beat the complexity. wj

That I do. Though in my defense, that picture was taken at a friend's house.
