This thread is a continuation of the discussion posted here from 12.08.2012 - 5.13.2014: Barclays Arrival/Arrival Cards (1.05%/2.1% travel credits)

Current offer for Arrival Plus is 70K pts w/$5K spend & AF waived 1st year.

Barclays says that you earn “miles” but you’re actually earning cash back with the card since you can’t transfer your Barclays miles to airlines. But you can redeem them for statement credits at 0.5 cents per mile (poor value) or 1.05 cent per mile if you redeem for travel.

You get 5% of your miles back if you redeem for travel, so 40,000 miles gets you $400 towards travel and 2,000 miles back (5% of your miles back). You must have at least 10K 'miles' in your acct if you wish to redeem as a travel credit. 2500 'miles' can be redeemed for a stmt credit though.

If you want, you can redeem miles to cover a portion of a travel charge instead of the full amount. For example, if you have 80k miles and a $740 airline charge, you can choose to redeem just 70k to cover $700 of the charge.

You earn 2X miles on all purchases, so you’re effectively getting 2% cash back for each purchase. But since you get 5% of your miles back when you redeem for travel, this is effectively a 2.1% cash back card when miles are redeemed for travel.

This makes the Barclaycard Arrival PlusTM World Elite MasterCard® (with 2.1% cash back for travel) better than the Capital One Venture card which offers only 2 miles per $1 or 2% cash back, only if you spend $30k+ per year after first year, because Arrival Plus AF is $30 more than Venture.

If you receive a call from 302-255-8000 after applying for this or any other Barclay's card, it is a legit number! You can also call them back directly at 866-951-1437.

The landing page shows 50k...but if you click apply now, it takes you to a 40k offer ( top of page ). I almost applied through this.

Since 50k is standard offer, i was able to go through google and find another page with a confirmed 50k offer, which I applied under.

Nice find, I'll have to PM Barclay as my card has not arrived yet.

Has anyone who applied through the link in the WIki confirmed with Barclay ( or already received the 50K) that the bonus is 50k ?

I contacted Barclay, my offer is 40K ( from the link that was in the WIki) ..........they MAY give me the 50K but I won't know for at least a week.

I haven't even received the card yet.

However, in an effort to resolve your concern, we have forwarded this matter to the appropriate department for review. While it normally takes 7 - 10 business days, we advise that you allow up to 30 days for the investigation to be completed. Should you wish to make a follow up with this matter, please feel free to send us a Secure Message. We are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for your convenience. For your reference, your Case ID is xxxxxx

I'm so used to trusting the links on this site I didn't even notice it.

Anyone who applied under the link in the wiki needs to SM and/or call, I just called and she noted that the offer says 50K but the application says 40K so hopefully I can get it resolved

Data point.
Closed my first Barc Arr+ on 4/18.
Applied for second on 10/19 and was denied.

Denial letter arrived today via USPS
"Our records show that you've already established the maximum allowable number of this product with us. Please let us know immediately if you did not apply for or receive this product previously."

Called recon phone line today and was told because I've had this card in the past I'm ineligible for it again. :-(

Wrong, call back and make sure they are showing your last card as closed and see what a different agent says as far as the one card

I closed my last Arrival in mid April 2016 and opened my new Arrival 10/15, almost the same exact dates as you did.

The wiki had the wrong link so I'm hoping they give me 50K as I called before I even received the card.

My wife applied for the arrival card and was instantly approved for 14k limit. Never had any luck with barclays in the past as they would always complain about too many cards opened in last 2 years.

So I was super happy about getting approved for arrival. But when I received the card, it was already closed. 3 other cards as part of this AoR. Looks like barclays didn't like it. Anybody have any luck in this scenario? Plead them to keep card open with low CL?

Well darn! I came here to see why the customer rep is telling me that a different offer is on my card and I guess this is why Here is we he told me. He says I have to pay the annual fee too? And nothing about meeting any spend, just made a purchase. I used the link in the wiki too on Oct 17th.

"We truly regret to inform you that we are unable to reward the 50,000 bonus miles into your account as it is no longer included in the promotional offer. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Rest assured the 40,000 bonus miles will post onto your account once your cycle closes on 5th as you have made a purchase and paid for the annual fee of $89.00. Once the miles have posted to your account they will be automatically sent to your rewards account and can take up to 30 days to post. "

I would call and reference the old link and tell them how it said 50K then redirected to 40K.

Even the landing page which redirects to the 40K app has this language.

"$89 (waived for the first year)"

DO NOT USE THIS LINK TO APPLY...........for informational purposes only

Hi-
Just got the card and met my spend to earn the bonus points. I charged over $500 on a Hotels.com booking the other day, the charge has posted but I can't see it in the options of charges to use the redemption against. Does it usually take a certain number of days, or should it post right away there?
Thanks!

Did the bonus points post to your account yet ?

It usually takes a day or 2 before you can pay eligible purchases with points.

Hi Guys,

Does anyone have data points on whether or not Southwest gift cards would qualify as travel spending when buying them using Southwest.com ?

Also when buying Southwest points (Southwest.com) will this qualify for redeem?

Thanks in advance.

My wife and I each received a targeted mailer for this card the other day with the 50k offer. I see folks here have gotten multiples of this card.

Could someone give me some examples of the pros to getting this card?
What's the best strategy to using it?

We were just denied the Chase Reserve card due to 5/24, so we're looking elsewhere. Thank you.

I've had the barclay arrival+ for a couple years now. I downgraded it to the normal arrival a few months ago. If I change it o another barclay card, how long would I have to wait to be eligible for the 50k bonus on a new arrival+ signup again? Thanks

The best use of this card is if you book and pay for travel with cash and those travel expenses are air fare, hotels, and rental cars and are $100+ for each purchase.
If you get this card and spend 3000 you will have 56,000 points. you then charge any travel over 100 to the card and sue the points to credit the balance at a penny each. I just got this card again and meet the minimum spend, next month I will be staying at a hotel I am expecting the total bill to be 600. I will charge it and se 56000 to credit to my bill 560 so it will net cost me about 40 for the stay.
