This thread is a continuation of the discussion posted here from 12.08.2012 - 5.13.2014: Barclays Arrival/Arrival Cards (1.05%/2.1% travel credits)

Current offer for Arrival Plus is 70K pts w/$5K spend & AF waived 1st year.

Barclays says that you earn “miles” but you’re actually earning cash back with the card since you can’t transfer your Barclays miles to airlines. But you can redeem them for statement credits at 0.5 cents per mile (poor value) or 1.05 cent per mile if you redeem for travel.

You get 5% of your miles back if you redeem for travel, so 40,000 miles gets you $400 towards travel and 2,000 miles back (5% of your miles back). You must have at least 10K 'miles' in your acct if you wish to redeem as a travel credit. 2500 'miles' can be redeemed for a stmt credit though.

If you want, you can redeem miles to cover a portion of a travel charge instead of the full amount. For example, if you have 80k miles and a $740 airline charge, you can choose to redeem just 70k to cover $700 of the charge.

You earn 2X miles on all purchases, so you’re effectively getting 2% cash back for each purchase. But since you get 5% of your miles back when you redeem for travel, this is effectively a 2.1% cash back card when miles are redeemed for travel.

This makes the Barclaycard Arrival PlusTM World Elite MasterCard® (with 2.1% cash back for travel) better than the Capital One Venture card which offers only 2 miles per $1 or 2% cash back, only if you spend $30k+ per year after first year, because Arrival Plus AF is $30 more than Venture.

If you receive a call from 302-255-8000 after applying for this or any other Barclay's card, it is a legit number! You can also call them back directly at 866-951-1437.

My wife tried over the summer and only the first card was auto approved. The second card was declined after a week. And they did two hard pulls too. Wife had 0 TU pulls when she applied and less than 4 inquiries on EX/EQ.

Applied for Arrival+ on Sunday, went pending. Says could take up to 10 business days. Only have an Aviator from them, almost no spend last 6 months, 5 pulls on TU though. Should I call or wait it out? I have some decent spend coming up in October, not sure how long it takes to get the card after approval.

Based on what MMS posted today, downgrading the A+ leaves you in a position where you'd have to call recon to get a new app approved without first cancelling your no-fee Arrival. Not sure how long I'd have to wait between cancel/apply, but kinda sucks either way.

That is probably why they said no to the 50K, I have had Barclay match better bonuses but it was maybe a week or so later that a better deal came out

Regular Arrival - Upgrade to Arrival +

Hi,

I applied and got approved to the regular Arrival on Nov 2015.

I do see some differences in the products (2 points on everything vs 2 points on travel and restaurants).

I tried to apply for a new Arrival+ and got denied immediately, called the reconsideration line and they told me I already have the product.
I tried to explain its not the same and they transferred me to customer care which suggested to cancel and reapply.

Does anyone know how I can get in on that deal?
I enjoy my Arrival card and I would even use it more if I get 2 points on everything and the 50K is a great offer.

Thanks,

Seems as if they told you what to do, how long after you cancel can you get approved is a different story

I know you can apply for 1 or 2 cards a year, as I applied 10 months ago I think it's okay.
Do you think if I would cancel and apply immediately it would be a problem? how long should I wait?

Applied for Arrival+ and choice on the same day. Got autoapproved for the Arrival+ and pended for the choice. Still waiting to hear back on that one. I'll recon it if they deny me.

Also let us know if you get two hard pulls. I did, and the 2nd card was denied too.

Did the two hard pulls have the same date?

Having a tough time with Barclays.
Applied for the Arrival+ the day the new offer came out. Wasn't exactly expecting to get it, because the last few times I tried getting a Barclays card, I was always rejected for having to many new accounts. Anyway, I got approved instantly.

Asked, via SM, until when I had to complete the minimum spending.
Got a reply saying that they could not match me for the 50,000 bonus offer. ...?!? I didn't ask anything of that sort, and since I applied for the 50,000 why should I need a match?

Long story short, apparently my account is coded as having applied with the old offer, not the new one.
Escalated the issue multiple times, still waiting for a positive reply. But I'm aware that I'll probably not get one. Will threaten with CFPB if that's the case.

Anyway, it's "only" $100, but it still shady on their end that they can't acknowledge a mistake (my guess is that there was a wrong link somewhere in the application that sent me to a 40,000 bonus instead of the new offer).

If you ever searched an old offer chances are is was in your computers memory.

I use Chrome to apply for all my cards but use FF for everything else.

You could also reboot before applying
