Tracking 772 [752 and 764] aircraft Flat Bed installation
LK says first flat bed plane will be flying this month. From what I can find, N77014 was ferried to HKG as CO3171 on 8/29, and is the only 772 that's not currently in service. So, it appears that ex-Peter Max will be the first CO aircraft to have flat bed.
I will try to track this plane (and subsequent conversion) in this thread.
This is the trip and photo report posted by member chrisjur in post #142. http://chrisjur.wordpress.com/2009/1...nitial-review/
And here are my photos, on the very next flight after chrisjur, but I was in coach. http://rkkwan.zenfolio.com/p959490117

As of 12/31/10, all twenty-two 772s have the flat beds installed.
As of 3/21/11 forty 757-200s also have them, except 134. 134 is in MCO for refit. No aircraft in service with old seats.

They should arrange for it to enter service October 27th in new Star Livery

Ship #14 is scheduled for CO98 HKG-EWR on Sunday 9/13. The Friday 9/11 CO99 EWR-HKG is on Ship #10.
However, right now, the seatmap for that flight on Sunday shows the same configuration as current models. The conversion is supposed to take out a row of coach. We'll see if this aircraft indeed was converted or not.

No, it's just that they haven't released Row 16/17/45DEF and 36/37ABCDEFJKL onto the seatmaps yet. They should appear by tomorrow.

any idear what revenue route the plane will fly when it re-enters service? I recall in 2006 CO routed at least one via GUM that flew revenue service...it was ship 15 and i flew it from HNL-GUM (heading to HKG for maintenance) while my aunt flew it GUM-HNL (post maintenance). do keep the forum posted.

CO has been doing a good job of utilization with the 772s going in for retrofit by ferrying one to HKG and then using the regular HKG-EWR service to rotate the other 19 into service, ferrying the last one out at the end.

It makes sense for CO to use the flat-bed 772 on the EWR-HKG route, to compete against flat-beds used by United and Cathay Pacific (United flies 747s with flat-beds to HKG, but flies 777s with old-style J seats to the other destinations in China, including Beijing and Shanghai).

CO does not dedicate specific planes to specific routes. They cycle the planes throughout the system to increase their utilization numbers.

Ship #014 is scheduled for CO84 EWR TLV on Sunday 9/13, and then CO85 TLV EWR and CO82 EWR DEL on Monday 9/14 and then CO83 DEL EWR on Tuesday 9/15.
But there's no sign that this aircraft has been fitted with the flat beds yet. Not in the seat maps or in-flight amenities description. So, I guess we'll wait for Ship #10.

Since we have a 772 flatbed thread, and a retrojet paint job thread, it's only right to have a thread dedicated to spotting the first :-:A-painted 752, right?
