I've been there once, and they are definitely worth the trip. The more adventurous visitors can also consider a black water rafting tour.

I suspect we will be around Sunday night.

How high is the "high side" priced place?

Given the dollars are at parity right now, well worth asking.

In general OzFest Sunday nights are a group casual dinner, somewhere quite central, at somewhere the organisers suggest and pretty well priced.

Not sure if our local organisers have offered a suggestion?

Thanks Kevin, overlooked the link.

~$50 a main course with vegetables for 3 mouthfuls of meat, and ~$60 a bottle for basic wine, so probably $250+ a couple with starter and coffee/dessert etc.

We eat locally at that local place you know for way under a quarter that, but have no idea of what else is around Sundays, and other price points - others might have some input perhaps? Maybe everything is around that level there ... not sure.

You are right, so far our local members have not suggested anything else as far as I know, but the month is young.

In general if 20-30 folks are booking on a quieter night, a decent deal can be done if some checking around is done. I can recall booking some set piece dinner for various ozfests at ~$50-$60 a head type levels, including house drinks etc.

Since we have no real plans for Sunday evening, you can make us likely to join you. Unlike ozstamps, we don't need to buy the $Kiwis with $Aussies so we can handle the tick.

Also, looking a bit further on the menu shows some very acceptable set menus at not stratospheric prices. If a large group were willing to reserve one of those for everyone, something might be negotiated off the price.

As I have no other plans, I will join you also. However, since I have three grandchildren, I doubt I will be able to eat the Dutch Baby along with my steak

I guess we have been slacking on organizing a casual dinner Sunday night.

I've been a bit more focused finalizing the other details.

I am tweaking my more finalized agenda to be posted along with the registration form.

We're staying at the Hilton - Euro is fine and, FWIW, has a very good reputation ...

Thanks for organizing this! We will sadly pass on it, as we're staying at the airport HI and departing at 8:20 Monday on NZ 99 to NRT, and know (some of) our limitations.
