Your flight to SYD shouldn't be showing a DJ flight number, JenGal

Just noticed that the Original Post (understandably, an edited copy of the opening post for previous ozfests) still maintains references to Canberra, (and its lack of brand name hotels) and Snowy Mountains.

I'm afraid I'm going to need to drop to Bronze for this year.

The timing just isn't working. I have an award booked to SIN and was planning to buy a ticket from there to PER but due to some staffing level issues and budget concerns at work, my maximum time out of the office needs to be limited 6 days right now. Unfortunately, that simply doesn't leave enough on-the-ground time in Australia for me -- I'd been planning PER plus something else in W.A. and there's no way I can make that work with the time I have available.

I sincerely hope this is a one-time blip and that I'll make Oz Fest 2014 wherever it is held.

I'll really miss seeing everyone; hopefully I'll be able to catch up with some of you somewhere else around the world. (With luck, I will make it Down Under sometime in the second half of 2013, when things get more sorted out at the office.)

I am now Platinum for this weekend (+1 is not attending).

Arrive QF777 at 1700 on Fri 24/5
Depart QF772 at 1000 on Mon 27/5

Staying all nights at Parmelia Hilton.

I will likely miss the Sunday daytime activities but that is TBC.

FYI the hotel prices have just started to crumble, as usual weekend rates fall as the date gets closer.

Hilton now available, for the Friday only, at $120. See needitnow.com.au for example. Not on the Hilton site, it's $155 there. And no BRG as the $120 is a twin room where the $155 is a king. But with any Hhonors status you will be upgraded anyway.

For the other nights, or for other hotels, just bide your time - for the weekend nights.

Weeknights are pricy, best value is the Perth Hyatt on certificates, use the HSPRN1-Premier-day-certificate at $189, best explained on loyaltylobby here

Enter the "special rate code" HSPRN1, make the booking then buy the certificate(s) for $189 per night.

Friday nights been like that for a couple of months. The twin room comes and goes on the Hilton site (was $117 last time it appeared)

Saturday night has been more of a problem although that itself cam down a few few weeks back.

Can now confirm that Mrs QF WP is now Platinum - some negotiation, but the flights in J helped

She'll be coming to Perth on Friday, VA 318 BNE/MEL then VA 685 MEL/PER, arriving 3.15pm (got to love Family Pooling ).

I presume she's staying in the Hilton with me

We're on the same QF flight home on Sunday (QF 594 departing 4.25pm). Even managed to get her the seat beside me, if she wants to sit beside me after the weekend.

Would love to be in Perth today----94F/34C. Instead, I'll be in Helsinki in a few days (high of 34F/1C) to add a new country to my portfolio.

Post 4 updated with Oz Fest 10 trybooking web site

Meal details & cost will be provided later, along with booking links, but we need to know numbers to coordinate with the venues

As advised, be aware that meals will be paid for later. Prices will be comparable to previous years with similar formats to the past. Friday being more casual than Saturday. Sunday is not an formal event but we like to know numbers so a venue can be arranged.
